It’s a year later, and the Abbott family is still dealing with the pain of that loss. But the new trailer for A Quiet Place Part II shows that they’ll be teaming up with a new friend, too. Jack Krasinski is also back, as director.

Emily Blunt and Millicent Simmonds in A Quiet Place (2018). Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
You didn’t think the creepy travails of the Abbott family in horror hit “A Quiet Place” were over at the end of the movie? Not by a long shot, as the trailer for “A Quiet Place: Part II” promises. Krasinski is back behind the camera for his first sequel, as he expands out the world (and vision) of his smash horror hit.
A QUIET PLACE II opens on March 20, 2020. The original film premiered at the South By Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) on March 6, 2018, then opened wide on April 6. Horror films play well at SXSW, which likes to treat returning filmmakers well. All of which means, if A QUIET PLACE: PART II also premieres at SXSW, we won’t be surprised.
Jack Krasinski is also back, as director. The Office actor and filmmaker, who is married to Blunt in real life, played the husband and father Lee in the original. Despite meeting a grizzly end in the first film, the new trailer suggests he could appear in flashback scenes. Marcus Abbott and Millicent Simmons return as the couple’s children, Marcus and Regan.
Emily Blunt will reprise her role as mother Evelyn Abbott, alongside original cast members Millicent Simmonds as her deaf daughter Regan and Noah Jupe as her eldest son Marcus. Written and directed by Krasinski, A Quiet Place Part II is slated for release in 2020 and also stars Gladiator actor Djimon Hounsou.
While Krasinski wrote and directed the sequel, his character wasn’t expected to show up, given that he sacrifices himself at the end of the first film. The trailer then picks up immediately after the events of the first film, where the remaining Abbot family members leave their home in the woods in search of other survivors.
The Abbotts might know how to kill the monsters, but that does not appear to be the impetus for them leaving the safety of their home. They embark on a dangerous journey into a seemingly abandoned city after their farm burns down. Was the fire an accident? Or did a monster—or even another person—do it? Considering the ominous warnings from Cillian Murphy ‘s character later in the trailer, the fire might be far more nefarious than just bad luck.
This time around, Krasinski is not just the director, but also the sole credited writer on the sequel’s screenplay (at the moment, anyway), with Beck and Woods credited only as the creators of the characters from the original film. This adds yet another level of control for Krasinski, and it’ll be interesting to see how much of Beck and Woods’ influence carries over into the next chapter.
John Krasinski is, for reasons obvious to A Quiet Place fans, not back for this sequel (we’re guessing he’s bound to pop up in a flashback or two, though), but he is back in the director’s chair for this installment, and working from his own script. Will we get definitive answers as to where these noise-hating monsters came from? We’re guessing so. Will those other survivors turn out to pose just as big a threat? Probably. Will Emily Blunt continue to look badass brandishing a shotgun? Oh, guaranteed.
Through Lee’s notes and newspaper clippings, viewers were given snippets of the chaos that ensued when these monsters arrived and attacked. This left at least 100,000 people dead and the monsters basically now in charge of Earth. However, now Evelyn, Marcus, and Regan know the secret weapon to destroying these monsters. This knowledge could give Earth a fighting chance against the monsters and we may see this play out in A Quiet Place: Part 2. The Abbott family could be on a journey to try to inform more people on how to combat these creatures.
The creators of A Quiet Place ” decided to make some noise by dropping the trailer to the film’s sequel on New Year’s Day. Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds are, of course, all back as Evelyn Abbott and her children Marcus and Regan, respectively.
A Quiet Place Part II is released in cinemas on 20 March. We originally thought we’d have to wait until May 15 to see the sequel, but Paramount then brought it forward to March 20. It will hit US cinemas 10 days later on 30th March 2020.
Kransinksi has decided, however, that a good way to ring in the new year is with a well-timed dose of terror, dropping the full trailer for A Quiet Place’s forthcoming sequel – and it’s safe to say, there’s no respite for the Abbott family any time soon. Here’s everything we know about the movie so far.
The teaser ominously showed the family, quickly after the events of the first film. They are apparently venturing into the unknown. Now, the trailer shows what leads to that as we see Emily Blunt and her children in what appears to be the very next morning after the end of A Quiet Place.
A Quiet Place took the horror world by storm in 2018. The film, starring John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, follows a family living in a post-apocalyptic world. Extra-terrestrial creatures with a hyperacute sense of hearing inhabit the world. This forces survivors to live in almost complete silence.
A trailer for the chilling sequel to A Quiet Place is here, and it’s just as eerie and terrifying as we feared. The surviving members of the Abbott family venture forth: Evelyn (Emily Blunt), her new baby, daughter Regan (Millicent Simmonds), and son Marcus (Noah Jupe).
A Quiet Place opens with the Abbott family gathering supplies at an abandoned convenience store. Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and Lee (John Krasinski) let their youngest child, Beau (Cade Woodward), know that the toy rocket he wants is too loud to take along with them. Despite their parents not allowing him to have the toy, Regan (Millicent Simmonds) lets Beau know that it is all right to take the toy in secret. She doesn’t see when he grabs a pack of batteries to put in the rocket. While traveling back home, Beau trails far behind playing with the loud rocket. The monster is quickly approaching and Lee tries to outrun it and save Beau. Lee isn’t fast enough and Beau is snatched up by the monster.
Blunt stars in A Quiet Place and its sequel, A Quiet Place Part II, both directed and co-written by Krasinski. Martin said earlier this month on Ellen that he sent Blunt and Krasinski an idea for a Quiet Place musical where he was performing with no sound.
Almost immediately after it was released to critical acclaim and commercial success in 2018, it became clear that A Quiet Place was not a story that would remain relegated to a single hit film. Like so many horror sagas that have come before, this was a film that built a story and a world that created plenty of opportunities for sequelization, and it didn’t take long for Paramount Pictures to push ahead with making that happen sooner rather than later.
The world of A Quiet Place is, of course, quiet. Nevertheless, it is a whole world, despite the relative isolation of the main characters at the heart of the first film. We only see this strange apocalypse and the creatures which caused it through the lens of the Abbott family, whose lives largely revolve around their rural home and brief trips into nearby towns to search for supplies. We rarely glimpse other survivors (or even hints of them) in the film, and when we do they’re brief and brutal, reminding us that it’s very difficult to stay alive (and in some cases, to want to stay alive) in this world.
A Quiet Place Part II is an upcoming Thriller film directed by John Krasinski and written by Scott Beck “A Quiet Place Part II” Paramount finally complete the movie “A Quiet Place Part II”is unveiled.
