The truth is that mainstream country music has very much become niche programming, and only subsists off of selling advertisement to a very specific demographic slice that is specifically susceptible to marketing slogans for corporate beer and domestic-made full size pickup trucks. Most people don’t even know how bad today’s mainstream country has become because they never interact with it. But even as non country fans, they still have a notion of what country music is supposed to be. Perhaps they heard it growing up, or happen top be passive fans of folks like Garth Brooks or George Strait. Then they get a whiff of what is popular today, and they are appalled.
Announced Friday (August 2), the 15-track album finds Gilbert collaborating with a number of country music’s finest, including Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss, Jamey Johnson, Lukas Nelson and Colt Ford. Fire & Brimstone also includes What Happens in a Small Town,” his Top 15-and-climbing collaboration with Lindsay Ell.

When Brantley Gilbert releases his upcoming Fire & Brimstone album on Friday, Oct. 4, the new record will mark the first time Gilbert releases a record as a father, since his previous project, The Devil Don’t Sleep, was released in 2017, before Gilbert and his wife, Amber, welcomed their first child, son Barrett. With Fire & Brimstone, Gilbert, who welcomed his daughter, Braylen , last month, admits that as his life changed, so has his music, but in the best way possible.
As Gilbert commands the stage and the audience as one whilst jamming out with his slick live band to ‘Kick It in the Sticks’. Huge, pulsing drums echo around the venue and the audience claps along in time enthusiastically whilst Brantley serenades the crowds with his unique, gruff vocal. Huge cheers raise the roof for ‘You Don’t Know Her Like I Do’ as the singer really gives his all for this anthemic number as the crowd supports him through the choruses.
So, Trig is probably one of the most knowledgeable people when it comes to country music. I don’t think you have a clear concept of what country music is. The part that irks me the most about your comments, and many others, is the ‘śHe’s a badass!’ť ‘śHe is pro America’ť ‘ś’ťHe is too real’ť. This man is wearing clothes that look like he bought them from the gas station, brass knuckles, and rapping in a fake stupid voice. I am assuming you are a conservative and BG panders to your base. I am a conservative too, but I really don’t want to be grouped with people like you.
Gilbert, who takes writing the songs of his life as seriously he does the fans who feel like they live inside those songs, lives to bring the music to the people. With two nights at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks, the Bay area’s Shoreline Amphitheater and a kick-off at Boston’s Xfinity Center, the man who won the 2015 American Music Awards’ Favorite Country Album for Just As I Am is matching the BlackOut arena tour with an equally comprehensive collection of outdoors dates.
Brantley Gilbert dated country music singer and actress Jana Kramer from September 2012 and got engaged on January 20, 2013. But, this relationship didn’t seem to work for them so they split in August 2013. Later in June 2015, he got married to a schoolteacher, Amber Cochran, who had inspired him to write his singles You Don’t Know Her Like I Do”, More Than Miles, etc. He lost his grandfather on July 24 while he was on his honeymoon. After infertility issues with his wife for two years, the spouse announced the pregnancy on May 16, 2017. Their due date is on November 17, 2017. The gender will be revealed at a gender party in some weeks.
BRANTLEY GILBERT has penned and recorded six No. 1 songs, including the CMA Song Of The Year-nominated “Dirt Road Anthem.” GILBERT has also earned consecutive platinum albums for Halfway to Heaven, and Just As I Am.
Shortly after the album’s October release, Gilbert will set sail for his Second Annual Kick It in the Ship cruise. The song isn’t really any worse or better than anything else he’s done, but I know he’s capable of much better live vocals than this. I have to wonder if he wasn’t experiencing vocal issues of some kind? And the placement of their performance was pretty lame. Seriously, nobody could get their hands on an elevated stage for a Monday Night Football halftime show? I’ve seen student unions put more effort into gigs just for enrollment week.

Fire & Brimstone was nearly put together, but his record label said he didn’t have THE single. So BG went back to the drawing board and wrote “What Happens In A Small Town” with songwriters Rhett Akins and Brock Berryhill.
He was born as Brantley Keith Gilbert in Jefferson, Georgia, U.S. He is the son of Becky Gilbert and Keith Gilbert. He has a sibling named Kolby Gilbert. He started singing and writing songs since the early age of 13. He studied at Georgia College and State University in order to be a marriage and relationship counselor. He met with a big accident at the early age of 19 due to which he lost most of his memories. This resulted in the end of his academic career. Then, he decided to pursue a music career. He also played baseball and football in his high school.
Fire & Brimstone features Brantley and Lindsay Ell ‘s current top ten hit, What Happens In A Small Town ,” and he can’t wait to celebrate the album this Friday with a special USO show at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
The fact that people are showing up in the comments of SCM reppin BG nation to the fullest!!” is all anyone would need to know about the state of mainstream country music.
He is. I wish he’d leave country alone and just send his music to active rock radio where it belongs. But hard rock isn’t mass appeal anymore (active rock” stations are largely classic now) so he calls himself country to cash in.
And it wasn’t just that it was bad country. It’s that it was just bad music, and the assessment of this was almost universal. There stands Brantley Gilbert with his stupid brass knuckles microphone and cheesy Affliction T-shirt machismo attitude, and his bandmates with their mohawks and dreadheads miming to a backing track, and it was like watching the officials blow yet another pass interference call, costing your team the game.

This album contains new anthems and clearly shows who Brantley Gilbert is now and what he’s come through to get where he is today. His music is deep, like the man of substance singing it, and you’ll find yourself wanting to fall in love one minute and get into some trouble the next. Life may be where Brantley’s songs start, but you can expect to have a lot of fun with his music. His songs are as serious as you make them.
Well he’s actually Southern Rock not Country. So y’all can go to hell. Best musician in the business. Especially when it comes to his fans. I would politely suggest that if you think Brantley Gilbert’s music is country, perhaps it is you who doesn’t know what country music is.
It appears to mostly be guys who are posting the negative comments about Brantley, did your girlfriends tell you that he is hotter than you? Jealously is an ugly look on anyone. He is a good person in addition to being a good performer which is why people pay good money to see him play, a crap attitude gets you nowhere.
In addition to his singles, four of which have reached the top of the country music charts, Gilbert is known for his collaborative work with other recognizable country artists. He has written songs for Colt Ford and Jason Aldean , including Aldean’s single called “Dirt Road Anthem.” Gilbert’s second single, “Small Town Throwdown,” features vocal contributions from Justin Moore and Thomas Rhett.

Part of why Gilbert was put here is to serve as a talisman for his fans. Singing for the unrepresented, the unheard and the unseen, he gives voice to the heart of America. It’s simple truths, the kind of basic common sense and grace that gets lost in the talking heads, the cognoscenti and the powerbrokers who forget this country runs on real people doing actual jobs and not worrying about how they’re seen.
Critically injured, Gilbert’s academic career came to a screeching halt, as most of his memories were erased by the trauma that he suffered. According to Gilbert, the accident spurred him to dedicate himself to his musical career and writing songs helped him recapture some memories he lost in the crash.
I can’t believe you call yourself a journalist. You have the right to your opinion but you don’t need to be disrespectful. Calling people who like Brantley ‘ślug heads’ť is very childish and rude. I’ve seen him in concert twice and met him once. His shows are high energy and the best I’ve been to. He’s just a normal person, not full of himself at all. You, on the other hand, seem like an asshole.
