BG is a great artist and so fucking down to earth. And his publicity team are awesome. I had tickets to his show and had won a meet and greet with him except somehow it was for the wrong concert, and I wrote his publicist and told them what happened, and told them that I wasn’t sure I was going to the concert because my grandmother was in Hospice passing away, and the head of Hospice stayed with her so I could go and then made me go, so I emailed his publicity team again and they left everything for me at Will Call. And he was the most genuinely nice person I ever met.

I can’t believe you call yourself a journalist. You have the right to your opinion but you don’t need to be disrespectful. Calling people who like Brantley ‘ślug heads’ť is very childish and rude. I’ve seen him in concert twice and met him once. His shows are high energy and the best I’ve been to. He’s just a normal person, not full of himself at all. You, on the other hand, seem like an asshole.

I had heard of his name before, but had not yet heard his music or really knew what he looked like. I recall walking back into the room mid song. I was asking, is this supposed to be shitty country or shitty rock. Either way it is f’ing no good.

Gilbert began performing covers of popular songs at local venues in his hometown of Jefferson and other surrounding cities, eventually making his way to Nashville, Tenn., the heart and soul of country music. After signing on to Big Machine Records, he re-released his album titled Halfway to Heaven with one of the singles eventually reaching the top of the US Country Songs Billboard Charts. If this good ole Georgia boy were playing actual country music instead of doing half-baked hair-band homages and calling them country, or if he’d just be honest and admit that he’s a Southern rock artist and not country, maybe we would give him some room.

Gilbert shared “Bad Boy” with fans in August, but is releasing it in full on his new Fire & Brimstone album, due Oct. 4. The track — one he says hopes will be a future single — refers to his wild years, when he had a drinking problem and hung out with a tough crowd.

Well he’s actually Southern Rock not Country. So y’all can go to hell. Best musician in the business. Especially when it comes to his fans. I would politely suggest that if you think Brantley Gilbert’s music is country, perhaps it is you who doesn’t know what country music is.
Brantley quickly realized that his acoustic shows, however intimate, didnt satisfy his audiences thirst for his rock-infused country music. In order to meet their demand, Brantley formed a band. “We went from these acoustic shows to a bona fide country-rock-soul show that is wide-ass open”, says Gilbert. “Even when we play a ballad its high energy.” With the fans demanding new music from Brantley, he came to Nashville, Tennessee where he soon signed with Warner Chappell Publishing and began to develop music for a debut album release. One of his songs, The Best of Me, was recorded by Jason Aldean and earned a spot on his Walmart exclusive release (WIDE OPEN) and ITunes. Since, Brantley has signed a record deal with Average Joes Entertainment and collaborated with top-charting act and labelmate Colt Ford to write and record, Dirt Road Anthem, which is currently featured on Fords multiple-week Top 25 Billboard album, RIDE THROUGH THE COUNTRY.
The truth is that mainstream country music has very much become niche programming, and only subsists off of selling advertisement to a very specific demographic slice that is specifically susceptible to marketing slogans for corporate beer and domestic-made full size pickup trucks. Most people don’t even know how bad today’s mainstream country has become because they never interact with it. But even as non country fans, they still have a notion of what country music is supposed to be. Perhaps they heard it growing up, or happen top be passive fans of folks like Garth Brooks or George Strait. Then they get a whiff of what is popular today, and they are appalled.
