Country music star who broke onto the scene with his top-selling single “Broken Windshield View.” The song had over 11,000 downloads within a week, reaching the Top 10 on the iTunes US chart, Top 5 on iTunes Canada, and Top 3 on iTunes Australia.
chris lane big big plans tour dates – Chris Lane & Lauren Bushnell Engaged
Chris Lane ‘s “Big, Big Plans” is the most personal love song he’ll ever write. There are never enough good love songs in country music, especially those that can double as a first dance song at a wedding. Since releasing “Fix” as his 2015 debut for Big Loud Records, Lane has slowed down, becoming more of an acoustic lover than a hyped pop-country rocker. His priorities have shifted.
The Bachelor and The Bachelorette! Lane especially loved the 2016 season when Jojo was the bachelorette. In a Q & A session via Twitter, Chris admitted he wished Jojo would’ve picked him instead of Jordan Rogers. The singer got to experience a dream-come-true moment when he made a guest appearance on Nick Viall’s season (2017) and performed his song, For Her.
True artists don’t just arrive on the scene fully formed, they have to find themselves. Even with a few hits in the bag, the search takes time, and it might be a few laps around the sun before things get dialed in – but when that happens it’s like a switch is flipped. Heading into his second album for Big Loud Records, aptly titled Laps Around the Sun, that quest for self discovery was heavy on Chris Lane’s mind. Two whirlwind years of chart toppers and jam-packed shows had gone by for the breakout country talent, but the North Carolina native still felt restless. He found himself looking back to his early days, and back to the reasons he fell in love with music in the first place.
The Barbershop Cuts and Cocktails welcomes country music singer and songwriter Chris Lane on Sunday, April 7. Known for hits like “Take Back Home Girl” and collaborations with numerous artists such as Tori Kelly, Rodney Klawson and Shane Minor. His new single “Fix” showcases that impressively natural singing style. Written by Sarah Buxton, Jesse Frasure and Abe Stoklasa, the song is a vibrant jam, about finding that one person who gives you exactly what you need. Lane delivers it with a southern voice and a sophisticated touch, announcing the arrival of a new brand of country star — one with a keen ear for what fans are listening to today.
Lane: There are so many I could name. Different artists I listened to at different ages all played a part in who I am now. I will say Kenny Chesney has been a huge inspiration when it comes to what kind of songs I want people to associate with me and my music.
The album’s first single, “Take Back Home Girl” (featuring Tori Kelly) marks Lane’s coming of age. It builds on the sultry swagger of Girl Problems, but he and the Grammy-nominee aren’t singing about a steamy downtown hookup. Instead, the track reveals who Lane really is – a true country boy with deeply rooted family values – becoming Lane’s third Gold-certified single in a row.
The dating news came a few months after Lauren called it quits with ex Devin Antin. Lane previously dated another Bachelor” alum Lauren Barr, who was on the same season as Bushnell.
Blanco Brown also represents a triumph over adversity. A childhood outcast who spent most of his youth in the hood, Blanco learned to channel his emotions into art at a young age. He drew. He sang. He wrote songs. Years later, he still sees colors whenever he makes music. The songs on Blanco Brown represent a mix of darkness and light, balancing the aggressive, hard-edged narratives of songs like “CountryTime” with upbeat, dance-ready songs like “The Git Up.” It’s a vivid, vibrant sound — one that shines a light on Blanco’s loving personality, challenging upbringing, and boundless creativity.
Florida Georgia Line, in fact, has been a mentor of sorts to Lane – they recognized his talent early on and took him on the road before anyone barely knew his name. It was a good gamble – audiences loved his high-energy, captivating performances, and other artists like Rascal Flatts snatched him up as a tourmate, too. Tireless on the road and always on all cylinders at every show, Lane attributes his work ethic to his years as an athlete.
But Bushnell wasn’t the only one who liked the song. After seeing his proposal video set to the song he wrote, his fans demanded that the song be released.
He played the song and then got down on one knee with a gorgeous emerald-cut diamond. The groom to be just happened to step in some fresh dog poop in his bare feet just as he was about to go through with the proposal, he told PEOPLE Even though I felt pretty confident I was going to get the ‘Yes,’ I’ve never been that nervous,” he continued. When I got to the third verse of the song and knew it was time, I pretty much blacked out. The next thing I knew, she said ‘yes’ and the nerves just lifted! It’s an explosion of excitement, pure joy, and love.” Bushnell & Lane started dating back in the fall after a long friendship. They made it official in November, debuting their relationship at the BMI Country Awards.
With Girl Problems, the 2016 album that launched Lane as one of Nashville’s most exciting new artists, the singer-songwriter got a taste of that connection. Its red hot romantic edge led to back-to-back, Gold-certified singles (“Fix” and “For Her”) and the first Country Radio #1 of his career, propelling the set to a Top 10 debut and sending Lane on tour with superstars like Florida Georgia Line, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill – all while helping him rack up 400 million digital streams worldwide, network TV appearances, and more.
Ahead of his show in Charlotte, Lane gave Bushnell a glimpse into his past, taking her around his old college campus — UNC Charlotte — and showing her where he used to play baseball But during the hometown show, he had a surprise for her, his fans, and his family in the audience. When his band started playing the melody for Big, Big Plans,” he took the microphone, but instead of beginning to sing, he started talking.
Once Lane felt free to unleash those killer vocals, everything fell into place: it was the thread that laced together his diverse pop and country influences, and Fix,” written by Sarah Buxton, Jesse Frasure and Abe Stoklasa, was the first piece of that puzzle (and also the title of his debut EP). Girl Problems – named as an ode not only to the difficulties of romance but the beauty of learning from missteps and mistakes – takes the ride one step further, pushing even more boundaries, packing more surprises and, most of all, always remembering to make people dance or sing along. From the smooth, R&B vibe of Who’s It Gonna Be” that absolutely smashes with its infectious, eighties-pop infused chorus; to the twang disco of All The Time”; to the mid-tempo For Her,” which Lane describes as his Backstreet Boy” moment – if the Backstreet Boys played a little banjo – it’s a contemporary ride from one exciting corner of the genre to the next, reinventing country with every octave.
Following the proposal in June, Lane shared exclusive details with PEOPLE, saying that he’s going to leave much of the wedding planning up to Bushnell.
He also learned something about himself in the process: he’s a damn fine falsetto singer. Working with über-producer Joey Moi, Lane was putting the finishing touches on a half-dozen songs in the studio when he absentmindedly began singing in the upper reaches of his register. Moi spun around in his chair.
