But Aguilera couldn’t ignore that something was missing. It was an amazing time and I’m so thankful for getting my foot in the door. Born in Staten Island in 1980, Christina Aguilera is one of today’s pre-eminent divas.

Christina Aguilera is the 28th most popular pop music artist and the 16th most famous Christina Aguilera is described by fans as: Talented, Awesome, Beautiful, Passionate and Glamorous. The superstar then took her Fighters to church. Dancers wearing priest-like garb traversed through the aisles of the Zappos Theater, waving canisters of incense that carried an intense rose scent, instantly making one feel like they were kneeling in a pew rather than standing in a Las Vegas venue. (Scent bombs were employed throughout the show to match each section; the smell of fire also permeated the air whenever pyrotechnics were used.) It wasn’t long before Aguilera gave reason to worship as she belted out her Kanye West-produced track, “Maria,” while standing atop a tiered staircase dressed like a modern-day saint in a blue robe cinched by a navy corset. The stage’s screens then turned into stained-glass windows for Aguilera’s spiritually charged “Twice,” before she paused to impart another anecdote from her days as an industry ingenue.
Everything about The Addams Family beyond the (admittedly great) casting has confused me. A new animated adaptation of the creepy family? Okay, I get it, but the art style…seems a little off? The plot involves them, uh, going to New Jersey? And there’s been almost no marketing? Every bit of new information that trickles out about this film, I become more wary. Surely the Addams Family, inspiration to goth nerds everywhere, deserves better.
In the spring of 2011, Aguilera signed onto NBC’s televised singing competition The Voice. As one of the four celebrity judges – the others being Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton, and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine – Christina found herself on a hit show that elevated her profile and gave her another hit single as Levine’s duet partner on Maroon 5’s 2011 chart-topper “Moves Like Jagger.” The Voice retained its popularity in its second season in early 2012, and Aguilera spent much of the year prepping her fifth album, Lotus, which was released in November 2012. Lotus peaked at seven on the Billboard charts; its lead single, “Your Body,” peaked at 34 in the Top 40. She scored a hit in late 2013 with A Great Big World’s “Say Something.” The aching duet topped multiple charts and was certified multi-platinum around the globe.
For the second act, Aguilera became full-on Xtina. Seated in a throne and sporting a pair of gilded chaps for a royal reimagination of “Dirrty” — the provocative club chorale from her beloved 2002 studio album Stripped — Aguilera commanded the entire stage. After a medley of “Vanity,” a rare gem from the Bionic era; “Express,” from her 2010 film Burlesque; and her memorable cover of Patti LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade,” Aguilera seamlessly switched lanes for The Xperience’s next section — a forceful display of female empowerment.
Clarkson’s cover streak on The Kelly Clarkson Show continues with the most recent Christina Aguilera -centric episode. Getting the crowd revved up for the arrival of the Stripped and Liberation pop singer, the talk show host entered with a rendition of Ain’t No Other Man,” off her Back to Basics album from 2006.
Christina María Aguilera (,; born December 18, 1980) is an American singer, songwriter, actress and television personality. Her accolades include five Grammy Awards, one Latin Grammy Award, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Aguilera ranked at number 58 on Rolling Stone’s list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time in 2008, and was included on Time’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2013. With estimated sales of 75 million records, she is one of the world’s best-selling music artists.
It’s a good thing Aguilera isn’t afraid of change, because the years after her split from Jordan Bratman saw a whole boatload of just that. Christina Aguilera began dating production assistant Matt Rutler , whom she met on the Burlesque set. In the midst of her romantic drama, Aguilera also began a new career venture as one of the original coaches on NBC’s The Voice in April 2011.
When Aguilera released 2002’s Stripped, it was a fearless time for her. She made the jump from her debut album where she was “creatively unhappy at that time” to being able to finally sing songs that she felt were true to herself, all while having fun with a more provocative wardrobe. But as the album allowed her to embrace her sexuality and femininity, it also encompassed a lot of insecurities and vulnerability. “You heard it on ‘Beautiful’ and a song called ‘I’m OK,'” she says. “It was like, am I honestly? Obviously, I’m not fully ok. It’s a journey into never quite bandaging my wounds.” Aguilera always pulls from her pain, which she describes as “a muscle memory” to help tap into her art.
In 2010 Aguilera returned to record stores with Bionic. She experimented with a more electronic-edged sound with this album, which featured collaborations with Le Tigre and M.I.A. While Bionic nearly reached the top of the charts, it failed to spawn any major hit singles.
Embracing her Ecuadorian roots, Christina Aguilera is one of the few pop stars who has dominated both the English and Spanish-language markets. The Latin Grammy-winning Mi Reflejo, or “My Reflection” in English, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Albums chart in September 2000 and remained there for 19 weeks. The album also peaked at No. 27 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart. Since then, she has charted 7 titles on the Hot Latin Songs chart, including 5 top 10 hits. While most of that success was from the Mi Reflejo era, Aguilera has revisited Latin music here and there throughout her career.
Still, Aguilera continued to perform, and in 1990, she earned a spot on the nationally syndicated television program Star Search. There, the nine-year-old prodigy wowed audiences with a mesmerizing rendition of Etta James ‘ “A Sunday Kind of Love,” placing second in the competition.
To commemorate the special day, Christina Aguilera released an adorably sweet music video set to “Save Me From Myself,” a song from her 2006 album, Back to Basics. The video featured never-before-seen footage from Aguilera and Bratman’s wedding — the star-turned-blushing-bride could be seen glowing as she shared a romantic first dance with her new husband. Between clips of the wedding, Aguilera crooned the romantic ballad with a lone guitar accompanist, while donning a very “back to basics” look — minimal makeup, long layered locks, flared denim, and a modest, light-grey sweater. To say that love looked good on Aguilera would be an understatement.
Coupled with a series of new piercings and tattoos, Aguilera and her new music startled some critics while endearing her to others. Stripped went on to sell more than 4 million copies, and Aguilera, rightly so, was unapologetic about the music or her look. “I knew it was a bold move, and I knew a lot of people would not be ready for it,” the singer said of the album in an interview with The New York Times.
Aguilera went on to become one of the most successful recording artists of her generation. She has sold over 35 million albums worldwide, won four more Grammy awards, and inspired a new crop of singers. Over her eight albums, she has explored a range of musical styles and had enough hits to warrant her own Vegas residency , but her debut holds a special place in music history.
The Grammy-award winning singer offered her story on social media after revealing that a Las Vegas domestic violence shelter, the Shade Tree, awarded her its Deacon Bonnie Polley Community Hero Award at its annual Mask Off gala last week. In the caption of her post, she wrote on what accepting the award meant to her.
Aguilera appeared to be stumbling professionally and personally around this time. At the Super Bowl in February 2011, she seemed to forget some of the lyrics to the National Anthem. Not long after, the pop star was arrested for public intoxication. Both incidents sparked a wave of stories concerning her possible alcoholism.
Before she became a five-time Grammy winner and mastered the art of the swivel as a judge on The Voice, Aguilera got her start singing in talent shows and at sporting events in and around her hometown near Pittsburgh. She later honed her skills as a triple-threat on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club, where her castmates included Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake, and, of course, Britney Spears. But even in a group of talented teens, Aguilera’s vocal chops set her apart. After showcasing her range at age 17 on Reflection,” a song for Disney’s Mulan , she signed a record deal with RCA Records and set to work on her album.
Mixed among the singles re-recorded in Spanish on Mi Reflejo were new original songs. Aguilera teamed up with a pre-“Despacito” Luis Fonsi on “Si No Te Hubiera Conocido,” which had a one week stay at No. 36 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. She earned another top 10 hit with the No. 8-peaking “Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti,” a cover of Puerto Rican singer Lourdes Robles’ heartbreaking ballad.
On June 15, 2018, Aguilera will release her sixth studio album, ‘Liberation.’ The album is executive produced by Aguilera, and the first single off the album, “Accelerate,” features Ty Dolla $ign & 2 Chainz.
That same year, Aguilera made her film debut in the musical Burlesque, co-starring alongside Cher Aguilera also contributed several songs to the movie’s soundtrack, including “Show Me How You Burlesque” — a minor hit. While the film was highly anticipated by many, it was ultimately maligned by critics and largely ignored by movie-goers.
First off I Love Christina Aguilera and would never be disappointed witha performance by her. This review is more for the venue. There needs to be a more organized line up situation. If you are waiting 15 mins to get in you should be able to take a drink in. The concert itself was hard to see way in the top back because of saw pilars in the way. Possibly putting tv screens on the side would help. Lastly the shop outside should be open at least a half hour after the concert since the lines inside are insane. Like I said Christina Aguilera never disappoints in her performance. Also the pictures inside were amazing.
This control is why Dirrty was the pivotal moment in her career. Before, she recalls, creative and practical decisions were made by her manager, the late Steve Kurtz, against her better judgement. When she came out with her self-titled debut album, it propelled her into the spotlight as a pop starlet and earned her a number-one debut and the Grammy for Best New Artist. I should have been on top of the world,” she says. It was an amazing time and I’m so thankful for getting my foot in the door. But I didn’t have good management, a lot of unwise choices were made. I was overworked, and there was no one to speak up for me.
On her fourth English-language album, 2010’s Bionic, Aguilera returned to Latin music in a big way with “Desnudate,” a bilingual bedroom banger. In English and Spanish, she demands, “Get naked!” The fan favorite cut is currently on the setlist of Aguilera’s The Xperience residency at Planet Hollywood’s Zappos Theater. She made the announcement about her upcoming Latin music album before singing this song.
Peiken: I think What a Girl Wants” was one of the top songs in the gold rush of the pop era for the Mouseketeers. There was Britney, there was Justin, they were all coming out and showing their wares.
In the spring of 2011, Aguilera signed onto NBC’s televised singing competition The Voice. As one of the four celebrity judges – the others being Cee Lo Green , Blake Shelton , and Maroon 5 ‘s Adam Levine – Christina found herself on a hit show that elevated her profile and gave her another hit single as Levine ‘s duet partner on Maroon 5 ‘s 2011 chart-topper “Moves Like Jagger.” The Voice retained its popularity in its second season in early 2012, and Aguilera spent much of the year prepping her fifth album, Lotus, which was released in November 2012. She scored a hit in late 2013 with A Great Big World ‘s “Say Something.” The aching duet topped multiple charts and was certified multi-platinum around the globe.
Her most recent work — 2010’s underrated Bionic” and it’s mostly forgotten follow-up Lotus” — wasn’t met with the same fanfare she was used to and a lengthy stint on The Voice” left Aguilera’s fans wondering if she would ever return to music.
Four years after her Star Search appearance, young Aguilera had ditched her straight bangs and half-pony for teased, wavy locks. With a little more height and a lot more confidence, one episode saw Aguilera belting her rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “Think” as she strutted around on stage, taking total control of her moment. As Us Weekly noted, watchful eyes can spot a young Britney Spears , Aguilera’s infamous frenemy, acting as a backup dancer for the girl who would go on to be her most notable competition.
In 2006 Aguilera changed course again with the release of Back to Basics, a two-disc collection of influential standards from the 1920s through the ’40s. Like she’d done with her previous album, Aguilera used the music to help define her style. She also adopted a classic Jean Harlow look for a time.
Even before she was famous, Spanish-language music had apparently been part of the plan for Aguilera’s music career. When songs from a 1995 recording session were released on 2001’s demo album Just Be Free, the world got a Spanish-language remix of the title track. Over computerized tropical beats, a very young Aguilera demands to dance and get lost in the music.
Popular for the hit songs Come On Over,” Beautiful,” What A Girl Wants,” Genie In A Bottle,” Dirrty,” and more. Aguilera brings her soulful hits and ballads for her first-ever residency show in Las Vegas. Garnering five No. 1 Billboard hits and selling 43 million records worldwide, Aguilera is one of the most successful female artists of all time. See the powerhouse singer belt all the favorites.
Born in Staten Island of New York City and raised in Pennsylvania, Aguilera appeared on television shows in her early years before gaining a recording contract with RCA Records in 1998. Her self-titled debut album, released in 1999, reached number one in the US and spawned three US number-one singles: “Genie in a Bottle”, “What a Girl Wants”, and “Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)”. While recognized as a prominent figure in the contemporary teen pop scene, Aguilera sought to assume artistic control with Stripped (2002) and its lead single “Dirrty”, which displayed her sexually emancipated persona and generated considerable controversy. The second single from the album, “Beautiful”, received favorable response for its empowering lyrics and became an anthem for the LGBT community.
Christina Aguilera thinks the music industry is full of “wolves”. I’m still skeptical of The Addams Family But I’m hoping that we get something worthy of this badass song. I had to get back to my own artist body and self,” Christina Aguilera says of her six-year hiatus. 4) Christina Aguilera is the very epitome of beauty and glamour. And that’s why she is loved by both men and women.
She says adventurous fashion is also more accepted, and it’s true. With celebrities being able to get dressed by a stylist and have the images quickly posted to the public, it’s easier for them to experiment and get immediate praise, or disapproval. Aguilera says back then an artist would play with their look from video to video, or record to record. “It was more of a slow-moving thing, and now it’s like, a different red carpet look. It’s very interesting how that happens.” She doles out one piece of advice: “Be fearless in breaking new boundaries and don’t be afraid to go against the grain of criticism along the way.” That can be helpful to anyone, whether they’re an artist or not.
