Once Frank came into the story it became interesting and thoughtful. Should it be necessary for a woman to make herself physically imposing to ward off would-be attackers? Region free. They don’t do that there.
city girls act up remix – City Girls’ JT Is Finally Free
I haven’t spoken to her yet, but we’re trying to set up a call so I can talk to her. That’s my girl, I’m so happy that she’s home. I know that feeling. Ain’t nothing like your freedom. I love that girl, I love them, I love Miami…I think everybody who just comes home renewed with how they move and live at that point, because you’re free. You use your own discrepancy. Everybody has their own different climb that they’re going to.
This daily one-hour hosted talk show is dedicated to topics of interest to women of all ages. In person, JT and Yung Miami feel like sisters instead of best friends. They bicker playfully when they disagree, but a sense of respect for the other remains constant. Their partnership feels like yin and yang, and they complement each other in ways that are only possible thanks to a nearly decade long friendship. Yung Miami is reserved in person, though her demeanor shouldn’t distract you from the straight up nasty things she can say on a record. JT’s aura commands your attention, as does her delivery. The two have enough personality to fill the 16 tracks of their debut mixtape, Period, and the heist-level bars feel like something rap has been missing for the better part of a decade.
River City Girl’s plot is a simple one. Kunio and Riki are kidnapped and the protagonists, Kyoko and Misako, take to River City’s mean streets to rescue them and discover who’s behind the crime. This sets the stage for you to fight through six distinct districts, including River City High, a zombie-filled junkyard, and the opulent uptown area.
Her memoir, Eat, Pray, Love, spent 57 weeks in the #1 spot on the New York Times paperback bestseller list. It has shipped over 6 million copies in the US and has been published in over thirty languages. A film adaptation of the book was released by Columbia Pictures with an all star cast: Julia Roberts as Gilbert, Javier Bardem as Felipe, James Franco as David, Billy Crudup as her ex-husband and Richard Jenkins as Richard from Texas.
The wait is over. City Girls’ JT, has finished her prison sentence and is finally free. Throughout the year, we have gotten sporadic updates on her release from Quality Control’s CEO Pee and her groupmate, Yung Miami. Now the time has come. Everyone’s favorite female rap group will finally be whole again. Upon her release, JT posted the cover art to the new City Girls single.
After she’s ejected from Vassar College in 1940 at age 19, Vivian takes stock of her personal resources. There are two things she’s good at: sewing and sex. Where oh where could she possibly put such talents to use? The best times in New York City are always supposed to be just before you got there, but from school in Poughkeepsie Vivian heads down the Hudson and lands in the middle of a sockdolager theater scene. The offbeat Lily Playhouse is a neighborhood joint, a magnet for the odd and colorful. Gilbert rounds up the usual suspects, who in this case are more suspect than usual. They include Vivian’s Aunt Peg, Peg’s dour girlfriend Olive, Peg’s husband, the bon vivant Billie, the impeccably styled actress Edna, and the showgirl extraordinaire Celia. Vivian takes her place as seamstress to the cast, stitching the crew together as they put up their wildly popular show, City of Girls.
The closest thing to a traditional plot is the development of the theatre production, City of Girls, in the first half of the book. This section is fun and fascinating. Vivian finds her calling in creating costumes for the production and the showgirls introduce Vivian to clubbing and sex.
CITY OF GIRLS is an expertly delivered portrait of a young woman trying to figure out who she truly is, and find all the joy and passion she can possible squeeze out of life. Vivian’s character was delightful, I would have love to meet her in her older years, share a glass of champagne and hear her tell captivating stories which are streaked with humor, humility, courage, compassion and forgiveness.
Period, released on May 11, is fun as hell. They’re not here to be politically correct, or to serve as activists. They want what they want, exactly when they want it. Whether that’s your credit card number or your man, City Girls aren’t stopping until they get what’s theirs—even if that means it’s yours.
I wanted badly to like this story, to enjoy it and let it swallow me up like a really great audiobook can do. I have loved other Liz Gilbert books in this way – The Signature of All Things is one of my all-time favorites, for example, and of course everyone adored Eat Pray Love. However, City of Girls left something to be desired. I think, maybe, it could have been two separate stories, instead of this long and drawn out, disjointed one. In any case, I won’t stop reading your books, Liz. Anxiously awaiting whatever’s next.
River City Girls on physical cartridge for the Nintendo Switch. Region free. The Classic Edition is limited to just 2,500 copies worldwide. In summer 2018, JT began serving a 24-month prison sentence on credit card fraud charges—just as the City Girls were making big waves in the industry.

From the # 1 New York Times bestselling author of Eat, Pray, Love and The Signature of All Things, a delicious novel of glamour, sex, and adventure, about a young woman discovering that you don’t have to be a good girl to be a good person.
Surpringly, a recent diss record recorded by City Girls’ JT surfaced online in which the rapper took aim at Cardi B, Nicki Minaj and more. During a recent Instagram Live session, Yung Miami clarified that the song was made as a joke and is not to be taken seriously.
With Yung Miami surviving the murder attempt and JT out of prison, fans are eager to hear new music from the two. In August, Pierre “Pee” Thomas, cofounder of City Girls’ record label, Quality Control Music, hinted the rap duo might drop new music before year’s end. “When JT comes home, she’s going to the halfway house,” Thomas said, “but the great thing about the halfway house is they let you go on work release, so as soon as she’s out, she’s gonna be locked in the studio working.” As evidenced by the same-day release of “JT’s First Day Out,” conditions look promising.
I wanted Vivian to be real so badly, I wanted her to be on TV so I could watch her telling her stories, even better, a friend so I could have coffee with her. It was also fascinating to watch her to get older and more mature. But, in any part of her life, she was interesting. I highlighted so many of her comments, and actually many more characters.
Now eighty-nine years old and telling her story at last, Vivian recalls how the events of those years altered the course of her life – and the gusto and autonomy with which she approached it. “At some point in a woman’s life, she just gets tired of being ashamed all the time,” she muses. “After that, she is free to become whoever she truly is.” Written with a powerful wisdom about human desire and connection, City of Girls is a love story like no other.
Yung Miami did her part in holding down the duo while her partner was locked up, with the group’s ascension toward stardom and the Billboard charts not missing a beat in her absence. But JT getting out couldn’t have come at a better time, with Miami preparing to give birth to her second child to close out the year.
Here’s everything that happened to the City Girls while JT was away. On Tuesday afternoon, Yung Miami announced her partner JT was officially out of prison after serving more than a year behind bars. Gilbert did it again, start very light and funny and move to deeper levels of pure human behaviors, yes a lot sex!. Love it, Vivian is a carácter that you will love and know to the bone.
City Girls’ net worth is estimated at $500 Thousand USD. JT’s height is 4ft 11in. Yung Miami’s height is 5ft 2in. Their style has been compared to Trina. Their goal in hip-hop is be like Migos They often rap about strong independent women getting their own. On the flipside, they spit lyrics about controlling men and dissecting broke dudes. JT bragged about a boy who spent his entire $8000 tax refund check on her; buying her a car. City Girls has various Instagram accounts with over a million followers collectively. Their YouTube channel has +61k subscribers. Their relationship status are currently unknown. Both have been arrested at some point in their life.
I’m a Gilbert fan however this was my least favorite book she’s written. Some of the most interesting people in the book were dropped and we are left with a self absorbed self important protagonist. Once Frank came into the story it became interesting and thoughtful. However that was only the last two hours. I felt the best part of the story was rushed to a unsatisfying end.
This is NOT the official music video. I have no rights for this song, the artist is City Girls and the song is called “Act Up” from her new album “Period”. All Rights go to City Girls and Def Jam Records. No Copyright. No profit for me.
MLK Bask 2k19 is coming to Jannus on Monday, January 21st. There will be performances by City Girls and Glokk Nine. Gates open at 5PM and the show starts at 7PM. The Official Trailer for the City Girls x Mass Appeal – “Point Blank Period” Documentary. Full documentary coming soon.
City of Girls is a masterclass in voice. It was like nothing I’ve read before. Blair Brown’s delivery was stupendous, I can’t emphasise that enough. Yesterday (Oct 8), her City Girls partner, Yung Miami , announced her release on Instagram, while putting fans on notice.
JT: When I put that, people were saying, No, you meant Atlanta… You meant here, you meant there.” That’s true. I had an argument with somebody, and they told us, Bitch, don’t nobody know y’all out of Florida.” I was like, Boy, is you fucking stupid?” It’s stuff like that, people be jealous and wanting stuff to stay small because they’re not used to seeing stuff Miami blow up. We got talented people there but that shit don’t make it past Florida, honestly. So, they don’t understand this shit is going to go because it’s God’s plan. It’s not nobody else’s plan. This shit bigger than y’all. This shit bigger than us. It’s going to happen regardless.
Yung Miami: I thought she was playing. I was like, Girl, leave me alone.” I didn’t think she was dead serious. I was like, We don’t even got no studio to go to,” and she was like, Well we finna go find one.” I was thinking, Girl, stop playing on my phone.” But she was like, For real, I got two beats,” and I was like, Alright, let’s do it.” We went to a studio and we were in the studio like all night, but it was just like a game. We were just playing.
The Hebrew Bible scholar in me has to say, we have to be attentive to the fact that race was not operative in the biblical world, right? So these distinctions of black and white are not there in the Bible. What is there for me as a Bible scholar is that there are communities that were being formed and there are some people who are celebrated and belong in the text and there are some people who don’t. So it’s not about talking about black women in the Bible, but it is about how black women can find themselves in the Bible.
The basic premise is that Vivian, the 89-year-old narrator, is telling her life story to someone named Angela in the form of a letter. Music video by City Girls performing Not Ya Main. © 2018 Quality Control Music, LLC, Under Exclusive License to UMG Recordings, Inc.
