coming to america 2 trailer 2019 – Coming 2 America Cast Brings Back James Earl Jones & More

Coming 2 AmericaEddie Murphy is praising the way Coming 2 America is shaping up. Wesley Snipes has been roped in to play the role of General Izzi, ruler of a nation that neighbors the fictional Zamunda. Shari Headley will be returning to play her role as Lisa McDowell. Leslie Jones, Jermaine Fowler, and Kiki Layne will also be starring although details of their roles haven’t been disclosed.

The two of them start living in a dingy tenement under the guise of poor foreign exchange students. Incidentally, Akeem joins a money-raising rally, where he meets Lisa, a woman embodying all the qualities he is looking for in a woman. To further their relationship, Akeem and Semmi take up jobs at McDowell’s ( as you can guess, yes- it is modeled on McDonald’s), a fast-food chain owned by Cleo McDowell, Lisa’s father.

At the wedding procession, a still-heartbroken Akeem becomes surprised when his veiled bride-to-be is Lisa herself. Following the ceremony, they ride happily in a carriage to the cheers of Zamundans. Witnessing such splendor, Lisa is both surprised and touched by the fact that Akeem would have given it up just for her. Akeem offers again to abdicate if she does not want this life, but Lisa playfully declines.

It’s been reported that the new movie will show Prince Akeem getting ready to ascend to the throne and become King of the fictional country, Zamunda, when he then finds out that he fathered a son he didn’t know about in America. In order to honour his father’s dying wish, Akeem and Seemi must once again go in search of this son, in Queens and then turn the street-savvy New York native into the crown prince.

As previously indicated, Coming to America features Murphy and Hall in several different roles, of various colors, creeds and genders. Following the success of this film, this became a Murphy staple, as seen in four later films: Vampire in Brooklyn (1995); The Nutty Professor (1996); Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (2000); and Norbit (2007).

Oh, say can you see, Nomzamo Mbatha and Garcelle Beauvais are Coming 2 America ! Deadline has confirmed that the two actresses are the latest names to be added to the Craig Brewer-directed sequel. The Paramount movie features Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall reprising their roles of Prince Akeem and his BFF Semmi from the 1988 comedy classic.

Eriq La Salle, who is best known for his role as Dr. Peter Benton on ER, said his work behind the camera has made him too busy to return to the highly anticipated sequel. When he was recently asked by a group or reporters about reprising his role, La Salle responded simply, No. I’ve already given you an answer. No.” He would go on to say Straight to the point. I knew where you were going with it. I’m a little busy right now,” when the group of reporters seemed visibly upset by his answer.

The new release date puts the movie in direct competition with Disney’s West Side Story remake. It will then face a much tougher competition at the box office when The Croods 2 and Cruella open in theaters five days later. Meanwhile, Coming 2 America’s original release date slot was given to Antoine Fuqua’s Infinite, a feature adaptation of D. Eric Maikranz’s novel The Reincarnationist Papers.

So what can we expect from producer Kenya Barris? Reportedly , the plot of the sequel involves Akeem learning he has a long-lost son in America. He must go back to America to find his son and take him back home to become the next heir to the throne. Sounds promising. Back in April, Murphy and Hall met with Oscar-award winning Costume Designer Ruth E. Carter for preliminary fittings for the sequel.

Variety has learned that Vanessa Bell Calloway is officially on board to reprise her role as Imani Izzi, the former betrothed of Eddie Murphy’s Prince Akeem, in the upcoming sequel Coming 2 America. She joins Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, and Paul Bates, who are all set to reprise their roles in the sequel.

Craig Brewer will be directing the film. The director has worked with Eddie Murphy and Wesley Snipes in ‘Dolemite Is My Name’. “After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that ‘Coming to America 2’ is officially moving forward,” Murphy said in a statement last year. “We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on ‘Dolemite’, and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.” Kenya Barris, the creator of ‘Black-ish’, rewrote a screenplay by original movie writers Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield.

Eddie is currently filming the follow-up to the 1988 hit movie, which tells the story of Prince Hakeem after his fairytale wedding to Shari Headley ‘s Lisa McDowell, where the two presumably went back to Zamunda and lived happily ever after. The sequel picks up thirty years later, as Prince Akeem goes in search of his long lost son, LaVelle.

There is a strong argument to be made for why Hollywood should stop making sequels to old comedies starting with Coming to America 2. The new film — which will see Arsenio Hall return as Akeem’s best friend — will see the prince head back to the U.S. to try to track down a son he never knew about, a street-savvy Queens, New York, native named Lavelle.

Paramount Pictures has set the film’s release date for August 7th, 2020. Although both screenwriters are thrilled to see the story of Prince Akeem and his bride Lisa McDowell continue, they admitted to pushing back on the idea for decades.

But fortunately the Prince’s minders, Arsenio Hall, 63, as Semmi and Paul Bates, 60, as Oha, were on-hand to watch out for him. John Amos is joining Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, and James Earl Jones for the Coming to America sequel. Debuting in theaters on Aug. 7, 2020, Coming 2 America stars Eddie Murphy as Prince Akeem, Arsenio Hall as Semmi and Wesley Snipes as General Izzi.

Many of the original cast members have been roped in for the sequel, along with other stars for the new roles in the sequel. Speaking to All Hip Hop about his upcoming sequel to ’80s classic Coming to America”, Eddie Murphy let slip that the production has managed to entice a certain Oscar Winner to its call sheet.

Coming to America 2 has been scheduled for a December 2020 release. Kenya Barris also wrote and produced the latest Shaft film, which will hit theaters this summer and stars Samuel L. Jackson, Jessie T. Usher, Regina Hall, and Richard Roundtree.

Cape Town – South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha has bagged a role in Coming to America 2. Paramount hypes its 2020 film slate at CinemaCon with a sizzle reel that teases upcoming releases like Top Gun: Maverick and Coming to America 2.

Nigerian-American muli-hyphenate, Rotimi won many hearts with his scene-stealing work on the beloved series, Power. While he’s also a gifted musician, acting is where he truly shines, and that’s why he was cast in the Coming To America sequel.

When Eddie Murphy comes back, he does it all the way! This year, the comedian has already returned in a big way by starring in potential Oscar contender Dolemite Is My Name, but there’s a lot more coming from him that calls back to his ‘80s roots. Next weekend, Murphy will be bringing back a few of his iconic Saturday Night Live characters when he hosts the show for the first time in 35 years. There’s also a fourth Beverly Hills Cop movie in the works Oh, and he just finished filming a Coming To America sequel.

Murphy reprises his role as Akeem, who in the previous film was a prince from a fictional African nation, going undercover in New York City’s Queens to find a wife he could truly love, joined by his best friend and personal aide, Semmi, played by Hall.

Headley and Murphy are joined in the reunion by Arsenio Hall (Semmi), James Earl Jones (King Jaffe Joffer), Paul Bates (Oha) and John Amos (Cleo McDowell), while new additions include Wesley Snipes (Blade), Rick Ross (Uncle Drew), Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), Leslie Jones (Ghostbusters), and KiKi Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk).

Jermaine Fowler (pictured directly above,) has joined the Coming to America 2 cast, as first reported in June by Variety While no details were revealed about Fowler’s character, one may be inclined to speculate that the 31-year-old actor is just the right age to play the long lost son” of Eddie Murphy’s Akeem described in the film’s teased premise. For now, though, that notion will remain purely in the realm of speculation. Fowler comes into the film off TV runs on HBO’s Crashing, and a co-starring role opposite Judd Hirsch in CBS’s two-season-lasting sitcom Superior Donuts. He also appeared in recent films such as Buffaloed and Sorry to Bother You.

With Prince Akeem marrying the love of his life at the end of Coming To America, Lisa McDowell became a part of the royal family of Zamunda. And just recently, Shari Headley was confirmed as returning to the role in Coming 2 America, alongside Eddie Murphy’s Prince Akeem. In addition to being a series regular on Tyler Perry’s The Haves and The Have Nots, Headley was also seen in last year’s Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween.
