gunna height weight – Lil Baby Reveals He Used To Pay Gunna $100 To Write His Raps

Gunna’s adherence to his melodic roots means fans of his early work will almost certainly appreciate the album, while those unimpressed with the simplicity of mumble rap may want to look elsewhere.

GunnaAs a kid growing up just south of Atlanta, rapper Gunna, a.k.a. Sergio Kitchens (born 1993), used to practice what he and his friends called six-month runs”: cut all extraneous spending for six months and save, save, save. Gunna has been played over 170 times on NTS, first on 7 July 2016. Gunna’s music has been featured on 148 episodes. It looks like the city of Chicago is honoring Gunna in a major way. The 26-year-old rapper will have his own day, “Gunna Day,” in Chi-Town.

Prior to his performance next Thursday (Sept. 19) in his hometown as part of the Billboard Hip-Hop Live series , we break down the 10 best collaborations in Gunna’s discography thus far.

As you may expect from a Gunna project, Drip or Drown 2 does have its fair share of creative and interesting beats, with Who You Foolin” sampling a unique guzheng instrumental from Chinese singer Tong Li. For returning Gunna fans, the album is also chock-full of dynamic, hard-hitting bass rhythms that the MC is well known for rapping over.

As Young Thug’s protégé, and a force in the new wave of trap coming out of Atlanta, fans should not be surprised to find out that Gunna and Young Thug have a collaborative project ready and waiting to be released.

The production by Wheezy and Turbo the Great is exceptional, adding delicate string flourishes – like a koto, or an echoing guitar that sounds like Arthur Russell’s cello – to the spacious trap architecture. The result is a gentle, poised record: the perfect rap album for a bruised America.

Gunna, who hails from College Park, GA, the same hood as rap superstars like 2 Chainz, is signed to Young Thug’s YSL label and released his project ‘Drip Season 3′ earlier this year. He will also be heading on tour with Travis Scott as the opener on the Astroworld: Wish You Were Here Tour this October.

I’m gon’ drip forever, but I’m not going to just focus on that. That’s not going to be the title of all my albums. Drip is me. That’s my signature. I could never act like I’m going to steer away from that, but it’s more in store as far as what I can give to music that’s not just about drip.

G: My latest project, Drip Season 3. I put it out February 2018. I had non-stop hits on there. It did real numbers. My whole city got behind it, then the world got behind it.

The ATLien has been riding high since the release of his first official studio album that landed him his first number-one record. Now, the YSL Records founder has another surprise that has fans hype: a teaser for the music video for Hot,” his joint single with label mate Gunna.

If ‘Drip Too Hard’ didn’t get stuck in your head at least once this year you’re doing something wrong. Georgia-based rapper Gunna became interested in music and rapping as hobby in his early teens. Things blew up when he was introduced to Young Thug. I didn’t take long before he lent a verse alongside rap superstars Gucci Mane and Travis Scott. That feature was enough to get him signed to Young Thug’s YSL imprint where he released Drip Season 1, 2, 3 and his latest album Drip Harder as a collaboration with Lil Baby.

G: It’s a lot that’s in the character of being a rapper. It’s about presentation. People will like you for your music but they want to see what you’re gonna wear. Some of my fans wanna come to my show just to see what I’m gonna wear. It plays a big part in my music because that’s what I speak about. It’s what I go by. It helps a fan connect with an artist, especially if you wear the same brands they do. Nowadays you can get what everyone is wearing.

Additionally, I was disappointed with both the Lil Baby and Playboi Carti features. The now iconic duo of Lil Baby and Gunna did not produce one of the classics we have come to expect from such a collaboration, with Lil Baby unimpressively appearing in Derek Fisher.” Similarly, Playboi Carti‘s appearance is lackluster and falls short of what a unique and genre-pushing artist like Playboi Carti can add to a project. Due to the minimal number of features on the album, these appearances could have been utilized better in bringing much-needed variety to the album.

Hot” comes off Young Thug’s album So Much Fun , which dropped in August. The album hit No. 1 on the RS Albums Chart the following week, earning nearly 150 million streams in its week of release. It marked an important moment of success for Young Thug, who also featured on Ed Sheeran’s Feels” from his No. 6 Collaborations Project earlier this year.

Gunna is relying too heavily on his clout privilege.” In essence, clout privilege” is when artists who’ve risen to fame are able to release mediocre projects with the security that the public will like it just because it’s attached to their name.

Beckinsale and Baldwin appeared for interviews and a Cooler Heads” segment. Young Thug and Gunna closed the show with a musical performance. Gunna followed up on the success of Drip Harder with the release of his debut album, Drip or Drown 2 , in February of 2019.

A week on from sharing new single “One Call,” Gunna has set a release date for his Drip or Drown 2 mixtape. Lil Baby, Young Thug, and Gunna perform on stage during Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash at Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood on June 16, 2018 in Atlanta.

During a recent concert, Lil Uzi Vert was almost about to get the Da Baby” treatment, when his friend Gunna’s security bum-rushed him on stage during a recent performance in Finland.

Make no mistake: That is still progress, considering where Gunna was a decade ago. Growing up in College Park, Ga., he first learned the value of hard work from watching his mother, a school cafeteria manager at College Park Elementary, while he was a student there. The youngest of five brothers, Gunna began making music at age 15, pulling from artists like Hot Boys, Boosie BadAzz and Drake to shape his own sound. He recorded his first song with a friend named Bobby—even that early music revealed a young artist with designer-brand taste. (Swag so cool, I’m super clean, I like my Cartier lens,” Gunna says, citing a lyric from that song.) He knew instantly that he wanted to pursue rapping as a career.

Remember when Hulk Hogan teamed with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall to form New World Order? Now picture that being Young Thug with Lil Baby and Gunna. Bound together by a speedy chorus courtesy of Thug, Gunna’s melodic rhymes find him in familiar territory, spewing about his embarrassment of riches and prized collection of icy jewelry.

Now that he’s the most prominent of Young Thug ‘s YSL-affiliated protégés, Gunna, born Sergio Kitchens, wonders whether his actions should speak louder than his clothing. He doesn’t think he can get away with only posting outfit-of-the-day shots on Instagram; Instagram Live must be in his near future. He’s even muted in conversation, with a talking voice that’s about one-third of the way between total silence and normal dialogue. It’s all reflective of a laid-back nature that leaks onto wax.

At the beginning of 3 Headed Snake,” from his new album, Drip or Drown 2,” Gunna is beautifully mumbling. Words are in there somewhere, but they’re genuinely of no concern. Rather than use a mumble to signal confusion or disorientation, he treats blurry words as a thing of exuberance. For him, the dance of pure syllables is almost peppy.

gunna dosnt really perform any of his real songs and plays a lot of other peoples stuff and sings over it. he isn’t that interesting of a performer and his music dosnt help either.

Based on these first tastes of the album alone, these singles hinted that Drip or Drown 2” wouldn’t reach the same level as Gunna’s previous projects.

Let’s face it, menswear luxury brands will have to embrace rappers if they want any credibility with that generation, but it needs to be authentic. Gunna is authentic. He has appeared sporadically on numerous Young Thug songs, as well as collaborations with Gucci Mane, Playboi Carti, Lil’ Uzi and a handful of others. Thanks to his latest tape and installment in the series, Drip Season 3, the 25-year-old rapper is in for something special, as are his fans. On top of his solo project, you can find him on critically acclaimed projects like YSL’s Slime Languagehosted by Young Thug and Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD. Gunna currently averages approx. 3 Million monthly listeners onSpotify.

As both are lovers of high fashion, it was only right that Moneybagg Yo and Gunna linked up for the flashy “Dior,” off Bag’s 43VA HEARTLESS project. The Atlanta native rides the icy piano keys for another swaggering assist. Even though it’s technically Bag’s record, Gunna is really the one setting the tone by handling the first half of the chorus and opening verse.

In his latest album, Atlanta rapper Gunna provides a familiar throwback to his 2017 Drip or Drown EP. Released last Friday, Drip or Drown 2 is a sixteen-song project with features from Lil Baby, Young Thug and Playboi Carti. Gunna continues to deliver more of his patented, subtle orations over laid-back instrumentals with an emphasis on traditional Atlanta trap themes.

The album’s best moments, however, come to life in the chemistry between him and the album’s executive producers, Wheezy and Turbo, with the guitar licks on the Turbo-produced Sold Out Dates” providing a template for much of Drip or Drown 2. On Out the Hood” and Who You Foolin,” they give his hood melodies” a heartbeat. On Speed it Up,” the follow-up single, Gunna’s voice fits into Turbo’s drum production like a puzzle piece.

In essence, Gunna is doing for Lil Baby what Young Thug did for Gunna back in the day, parlaying a friendship and mentorship into an ongoing creative partnership, instilling the young rapper with the confidence to rhyme alongside the world’s top MCs while building the foundation for the next generation of Atlanta hip-hop.

We caught up with Gunna before the release of his debut album ‘Drip or Drown 2,’ and the Atlanta rapper is ready to conquer all of rap. Later, Young Thug and Gunna take the stage for a collaborative musical performance.

During a sit down with 16 Bars, the Atlanta rapper revealed that he used to pay his pal $100 to write his songs for him which helped develop his spitting skills.

While it is unclear when and if this project is dropping, fans can at least know they have a titan of an album to look forward to, once everything is squared away and the project is ready for release.

G: The song, YSL that I did with Playboi Carti is like a vibe. My label is YSL (Young Stoner Life, Young Thug’s record label). I wear Saint Laurent, that essentially is YSL so it’s just a vibe that I heard in the beat and it just came about. YSL, it was easy.

Burna Boy will headline the Sept. 14 Afro-Carribean show, with support from openers Kranium and Koffee. Young the Giant will return to UB on Oct. 12 for an indie-rock showcase, with supporting acts to be announced. The final Nov. 8 concert will feature co-headliners and trap newcomers Gunna and DaBaby — both members of XXL’s 2019 freshman class.

Gunna wouldn’t see his first check from streaming royalties until 2017’s Drip Season 2, which makes sense. Marquee features from Offset , Playboi Carti and, of course, Thug would compel anyone to press play. But compared to his guests’ pop art approach to hip-hop, what stands out most in Gunna’s post-Floyd” releases is his preternatural calm, a take on trap even more impressionistic than Thug’s Barter 6. Troupe taught Gunna not to overstate himself. Don’t go back and forth with nobody,” the rapper remembers him advising. Don’t argue. We ain’t doing that. What you going back and forth with somebody over anything for?” Meanwhile, the Atlanta hip-hop scene rewards such stylistic individuality above all else, as Gunna demonstrated again on last November’s Drip or Drown and Drip Season 3, his true breakout project, this past February.

After releasing a series of underground mixtapes and being nurtured by Young Thug , 25-year-old rapper Gunna was picked up for guest spots by Mariah Carey, Travis Scott and Future in 2018, and hit the US Top 5 via one of his collaborations with fellow Atlantan Lil Baby: the beautifully melancholic Drip Too Hard He thus enters 2019 as one of America’s most-fancied MCs, and this debut solo album – thoughtful, affecting and quietly proud – justifies the hype.

Throughout his career, Gunna has ensured that those coming up behind him are well taken care of. During an interview last month, Lil Baby explained how much of an influence Gunna has had on his career The “Close Friends” spitter reflected on a time where Gunna would write his rhymes to help him practice. Based on this kind gesture, Lil Baby was able to establish his own flow.

Prior to his performance next Thursday (Sept. 19) in his hometown as part of the Billboard Hip-Hop Live series , we break down the 10 best collaborations in Gunna’s discography thus far.
