Lewis CapaldiScottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi has had a lot to celebrate all year, with his single Someone You Loved” spending seven consecutive weeks at No. 1 in the UK and then pond-hopping to soar up the US charts, recently hitting No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. On 14 November 2018 Capaldi performed a cover of Lady Gaga ‘s ” Shallow ” from A Star Is Born live on BBC Radio 1 ‘s Live Lounge 16 To date, Capaldi has played four sold-out back-to-back tours, and in his first 15 months of touring sold 300,000 headline tickets. He is currently supporting Bastille on their 2019 tour ‘Still Avoiding Tomorrow’.

Keeping up his reputation as the soundest man in showbusiness, Scottish singing sensation Lewis Capaldi has passed on his congratulations to Ferbane on their Offaly Senior Football Championship win at the weekend.

Lewis’s new track Someone You Loved, from the Breach EP, is his fastest- growing streaming track to date. Lewis is in the Top 400 Global artists on Spotify, with Someone You Loved having been added to their Hot Hits UK playlist, the biggest in the country.

Scottish singer-songwriter, Lewis Capaldi has added an Aberdeen date to his upcoming UK & Ireland arena tour. Capaldi will play to crowds at the North-East’s brand new events venue, P&J Live on Sunday 15 March 2020.

Like many in his generation, Capaldi, whose aspiring rock star of an older brother led him to start playing music in grade school, was discovered by a manager after he posted homemade recordings online. His meal ticket of an instrument, though, sets him apart as much as his attraction to classic arrangements does. Where artists like Eilish and Khalid do this super-cool kind of mumbly, vibey thing,” as one of his producers, Malay , put it, Capaldi uses his powerful chest voice to reach the cheap seats. In the weathered grain of his singing — rich with echoes of Otis Redding and Daryl Hall — you can hear a performer capable of turning pain into beauty.

It’s easy to listen to Lewis Capaldi ‘s breakthrough hit, “Someone You Loved,” and assume that he’s still absolutely reeling from a devastating split. But to hear the 22-year-old tell it, he was already way, way over his ex by the time he wrote his signature bleeding-heart ballad.

But one man has beaten them to it, with Lewis revealing he has already secretly recorded a song with Niall Horan which he hopes will be on the ex-One Direction singer’s upcoming album.

Standing onstage recently at the Royale nightclub here, the singer from Glasgow with the rough-edged voice delivered only a few lines of his chart-topping Someone You Loved” before nearly every member of the capacity crowd took up the song, hungry for the catharsis to be found in bellowing Capaldi’s words about the emotional cost of a loved one’s departure.

Still only 22, the sometimes heartbroken, often cheeky Scot’s signature tune is the extraordinary ‘Someone You Loved’. As the perfect showcase for his sweeping, emotive and unbelievably powerful voice, the song has proved a tonic to the jangled emotions of music lovers worldwide, especially here in Australia.

It wasn’t until Capaldi’s label released Someone You Loved that things went ballistic: seven weeks at No 1, the biggest-selling single of the year in Britain, and a platinum hit across Europe and Australia. His album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent , is the fastest-selling debut by a British artist in eight years. Then it started selling in the US.

When Lewis Capaldi’s debut single Bruises exploded at the start of 2017 it seemed from an outside perspective to have all the hallmarks of an overnight sensation. How could this 20-year-old with a soul-wrenching voice seemingly emerge from nowhere with a song of such emotional depth? Within weeks it had racked up an astonishing 15 million Spotify plays and topped streaming charts around the world. Picking up the guitar at nine, writing songs at eleven and gigging from 12 onwards, Capaldi has devoted every spare moment to writing and performing.

Off to a quick and powerful start in the music industry, Scottish pop singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi’s career has just begun. One of Europe’s hottest breakthrough artists, Capaldi has released two EPs and one studio album. His album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent was released in May of 2019 and quickly became one of the best-selling albums in the UK. His single “Someone You Loved” was a hit all over the world, charting in more than 29 countries and achieving gold, platinum and double-platinum status through five different trade associations. He began to make headway in the United States with “Someone You Loved” peaking at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The hit song “Someone You Loved” was at number one in the charts for seven weeks after it was released. It is also one of the most popular of Lewis’ on his debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which reached number one in the UK and Ireland when it was released in May 2019.

Scottish pop star Lewis Capaldi has said he is convinced his success will not last very long. Lewis was the fastest unsigned artist to reach 25 million plays on Spotify, and the first to sell out an arena tour before releasing an album.

The maverick award, for “musicians who have inspired cult worship”, went to Edwyn Collins, while trip-hop star Tricky was honoured with the classic album award for his 1995 solo debut Maxinquaye.

The fact that his album and some of its songs are doing well is only part of the story. As a follow-up to opening for Sam Smith last year, the Glasgow-bred songwriter went on tour with The Killers and Ed Sheeran this summer.

But there’s something else about Capaldi’s fame. He is incredibly likable in person: funny, warm, and implausibly fond of swearing (looking at the transcription of our interview, he said fuck” or fucking” 243 times in the space of 90 minutes). Moreover, he has proved very adept at projecting that likability on stage – where what he refers to as his blether” between songs occasionally lasts as long as the songs themselves – and on social media.

Certainly, Capaldi has lost his virginity in the upper regions of the music charts: After his debut album, the cheekily titled Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent,” was released in May, it went to No. 1 in the UK and stayed there for six weeks. And now the LP’s big single, Someone You Loved,” has put Capaldi in the same company as such hot acts as Lizzo, Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X in the US.

Having recently toured with the likes of Sam Smith, Niall Horan, and Rag’n’Bone Man, Capaldi makes a point of instilling that sense of fun into his live show—an undeniably joyful experience, despite the heavy-hearted nature of so many of his songs. As I was working on the album, one of the main things I kept thinking about was whether I’d have a good time playing these songs live,” Capaldi says. People might come to my shows expecting it to be very serious, but really I just talk a lot of absolute nonsense and try to connect with the audience like they’re my pals. I’m not up there saying, ‘Here’s another one about a girl who broke my heart’—it’s always much more like, ‘Let’s all just have a laugh, and sing some really sad songs together.

The story soon became familiar all over Europe, America & Australia and America where it became Capaldi’s first top 10 single in the US. With a record breaking 6 back-to-back completely sold out headline tours all over the world in less than 18 months, his ascent, simply unprecedented, his rapidly developing fanbase ravenous, outstripping the supply for tickets for every show. His talents didn’t go unnoticed among his peers with Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran & The Killers all inviting Capaldi to open their Arena & Stadium shows.

Cabello’s arrangement of the song, which features on Capaldi’s chart-topping debut album ‘ ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’ , added more instrumentation and sonic flourishes to the piano ballad, including drums and horns.
