After a mediocre response to the album, the band parted with their record label and attended college, but in 2001, the band regrouped, added James Valentine to the lineup, and pursued a new direction under the name Maroon 5.
maroon 5 tour 2020 usa – Maroon 5 At Hard Rock Live Hollywood Florida Grand Opening October 25, 2019
LA-based neo-soul rock outfit: Adam Levine – Vocals; Matt Flynn – Drums; Jesse Carmichael – Keyboards; James Valentine – Guitar; Mickey Madden – Bass. This is a new song, just watch it creep up this list. Massive shame if it won’t. This is the best maroon 5 song I have ever heard. INCREDIBLE. Even at the start the lyrics kick in. Incredible song, works VERY well with the lyrics, just KILLS. 34th is too low WAY too low. I hope when people are reading this it is higher.
Probably one of the best songs ever. So upbeat and the beat makes me want to dance! I hope Maroon 5 keeps making songs like these. Levine didn’t give away details about the band’s performance in Atlanta on Sunday, but he said they’re aiming to be a voice for the voiceless.
Maroon 5’s last album, Red Pill Blues, dropped in 2017. The band performed at the Super Bowl LIII halftime show earlier this year. Their last big hit was a remix Girls Like You,” off Red Pill Blues, which featured Cardi B. The remixed track was again remixed by the likes of St. Vincent, Wondagurl, Tokimonsta and Cray last year.
This song should be top 2. Either in front of or after She Will Be Loved. Either way, I don’t understand why Payphone and Moves Like Jagger are in the top 3. They are just pop hits, and don’t have much meaning in them, at least not as much as some of Maroon 5’s other songs, like This Love, or like Won’t Go Home Without You.
All the Songs About Jane Songs should be in the top 10, but this is by far their greatest song ever. Newer songs like Moves Like Jagger and Payphone don’t capture the same emotion as Must Get Out.
Sometimes timing is everything, and this sharp cut – Maroon 5’s fourth domestic chart-topper, recorded with rapper Cardi B – was lifted from Red Pill Blues to huge radio support in 2018. It seemed like the perfect celebration of women in that moment when so many stories of long-veiled abuse were finally being exposed. A neat video with celebrity cameos helped, but this nagging, hook-heavy earworm is the sort of a tune you can’t easily shake off. And its phenomenal sales are still building.
Maroon 5’s hit wasn’t originally on Hands All Over — but after Moves Like Jagger” was added to the re-release of the album in 2011, it quickly hit the top of the charts. The dance-worthy tune in addition to Christina Aguilera‘s guest vocals helped sell millions of copies of the single in both 2011 and 2012. As music reviewer Scott Shelter mentions on PopCrush , The song would’ve been great even without Aguilera, but her fiery cameo makes it that much better.” And while Levine has said in the past that the song was risky, it seems the risk really paid off.
Rolling Stone said in this album, their already polished sound is burnished to a high-gloss glow,” though many agreed improvements could have been made. As the magazine noted, the title track isn’t much fun, and the band sounds like they need to loosen up in order for many of their newer tunes to work. With that said, the album sales speak for itself, and Maroon 5 still proved they were top dogs in the pop arena.
Maroon 5 recently debuted the album’s irresistible new single, What Lovers Do,” which features Top Dawg Entertainment artist SZA. The song has quickly climbed into the top 10 on both the Top 40 and HOT AC radio charts, as well as clocking 143 million streams on Spotify and nearly a combined 75 million views on YouTube. In addition to their new hit single, the band also just premiered two eagerly awaited unreleased songs from the album, the undeniably catchy Help Me Out,” which features Julia Michaels making a show-stopping cameo, and the cinematic rhythmic track Whiskey” ft. A$AP Rocky.
Now recognised as one of the biggest songs of all time, this hit duet was initially released as a standalone single following Hands All Over. The Voice coach Christina Aguilera left her red chair to join fellow judge Adam Levine on this homage to The Rolling Stones ‘ frontman. What makes it work? A hypnotic pop-dance groove that just burns into the memory, two great vocal performances and an inspired lyric that’s clever but ever so simple.
Finally, the album hit platinum and reached the Billboard Top 10 in 2004, two years after the album was first released. By the end of the year, the album sold over 2.7 million copies.
This sugar-sweet melody offers Maroon 5 at, perhaps, their lightest, and demonstrates how effortlessly classic-pop writing comes to Adam Levine. Lifting elements from Neiked’s ‘Sexual’, it was a signal that Red Pill Blues was perfectly positioned to capitalise on the booming pop-dance market, but the credibility of the band’s blend of urban and rock influences was never far away. Featured artist SZA enjoyed her first US Top 10 appearance with this track.
The one that caught us all by surprise. The sudden release of this brand-new track in September 2019 has all the makings of an enduring Maroon 5 song. This stripped-back, gently lilting pop cut has a gorgeous melody and is going to be all over radio across the autumn. You know that early-evening moment on an idyllic beach as the sun slowly sets at the end of summer? It sounds like this.
Maroon 5 is one of the highest rated concerts in the world and has sold out more stadiums than most musicians in their genre. With numerous Top 40 hits to its name such as “Girls Like You” featuring Cardi B , “She Will be Loved” and “Harder to Breathe,” the band has an extensive list of crowd-pleasing favorites to draw upon, so a Maroon 5 concert is sure to leave you feeling satisfied and entertained. Concertgoers are often blown away by the high-energy performance of the band. The acoustics and lighting at these events also increase the intensity. Fans love when Adam Levine performs dances moves across the stage and croons their favorite tunes.
You can’t really talk about Maroon 5 without focusing on the band’s charismatic frontman. ‘One More Night’ is perhaps the point when Adam Levine’s sex appeal was pushed centre-stage, in a video treatment of a bitter domestic drama. Do their great videos ever overshadow the songs? Almost, but not quite… these guys know what they are doing. This was the second single from Overexposed, recorded as Jesse Carmichael took a break from the band, with PJ Morton stepping in after a spell on tour.
That hardcore feminism resulted in, unfortunately, the star-studded and awkwardly condescending video for Girls Like You,” a particularly drowsy example of modern rock-band wokeness. In so many aspects of our culture, 2018 has been the year of women’s rage,” my Ringer colleague Lindsay Zoladz wrote last year On the radio and on the charts, though, 2018 has been the year of the benevolent-yet-patronizing women’s empowerment anthem, as imagined by men.” Indeed, Girls Like You” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks, but it’s a melancholy bit of poetic justice that they’ll likely play it at the Super Bowl without Cardi B, undercutting that benevolence entirely. The song is still a perfectly hooky ode to female strength, but that strength will now manifest as an absence, not a presence. If Travis Scott does Cardi’s verse instead, look out.
A late single release from Overexposed, ‘Daylight’ had a steady climb up the Billboard charts, made the US Top 10 and has since lasted the course. Jonas Åkerlund was brought in to helm a clever video made with the band’s fans, while Adam Levine says ‘Daylight’, created with legendary hitmaker Max Martin, is his favourite track on the album.
Why guest artist Kendrick Lamar decided not to appear in the bizarre Pokémon-inspired video is anyone’s guess… but here was a band with a sense of humour. TV show Ellen hosted the debut live performance of the cut, which went on to be a Top 10 hit on both sides of the Atlantic in late 2016. Benny Blanco helped produce the studio version, which was given a standalone release ahead of Red Pill Blues.
Maroon 5 has been working hard on a Pepsi Super Bowl LIII halftime show that will meet and exceed the standards of this event,” began a terse NFL press release that meets and exceeds the standards of strained, knock-kneed corporate-speak. As it is about music, the artists will let their show do the talking.” The concern, undoubtedly shared by band and monolithic sports league alike, was that Maroon 5 might do or say something uncouth and controversial. That’ll be the fucking day.

Their means of domination: using the rock band format as a skin for top-40 pop songwriting. Replace the prominent lead guitar with some futuristic Virginian hip-hop accents and 2002 breakthrough single Harder To Breathe” could just as easily have been a Justin Timberlake track on that year’s Justified — and in its existing form it would be very believable as a current-day Timberlake single given his present grown-and-classy Fallon-friend incarnation. Ditto debut album Songs About Jane’s subsequent mega-hits This Love,” She Will Be Loved,” and Sunday Morning,” tunes they just as easily could have outsourced to someone like future collaborator Christina Aguilera had some record exec decided they weren’t pretty enough for a record sleeve.
