Thrash Metal (Heavy Metal) band from Los Angeles, California (USA). Newsted left the band in 2001, which left Metallica without a bassist as they prepared to record 2003’s St. Anger. The laborious genesis of that album—and Metallica’s dysfunctional band relationship and further internal cracks—emerged in the brutally honest 2004 documentary Some Kind of Monster. Still, bassist Robert Trujillo replaced Newsted in early 2003, and the Metallica juggernaut kept rolling forward.

S&M2” follows in these footsteps, reimagining some of the band’s most beloved hits as symphonic opuses that give the tracks new dimension and depth.

Metallica have a great set list to choose from, on occasions they make some strange picks. GREATS like Puppets, One, Creeping death. A left field Clover which is great, then long absent memory remains. `Then come the stranger choices, like anything off st Anger. The pace is affected by this and then the mid set duet with Kirk and rob, this time Killers by Iron Maiden, but the sound affected it so much that wasn’t really audible.
Metallica earned a growing fan base in the underground music community and won critical acclaim with its first five albums. 3 The band’s third album, Master of Puppets (1986), was described as one of the heaviest and most influential thrash metal albums. Its eponymous fifth album, Metallica (1991), the band’s first to root predominantly in heavy metal, appealed to a more mainstream audience, achieving substantial commercial success and selling over 16 million copies in the United States to date, making it the best-selling album of the SoundScan era. After experimenting with different genres and directions in subsequent releases, the band returned to its thrash metal roots with the release of its ninth album, Death Magnetic (2008), which drew similar praise to that of the band’s earlier albums.
Metal heads everywhere know nothing compares to the hardcore intensity of seeing Metallica tear through monumental epics like Enter Sandman”, For Whom the Bell Tolls”, and Master of Puppets” in concert. Headbanging ticket buyers rock hard to countless classics as frontman James Hetfield growls through the band’s thunderous throwdowns and brutal ballads. Kirk Hammett’s sick guitar shredding and Lars Ulrich’s furious drum fills complete the sonic assault, stunning listeners with each hard-hitting breakdown and pulse-pounding riff. Still serving up the same brilliant savagery that made them thrash metal superstars in the first place, Metallica continue to unleash the metal mayhem whenever they tour.
Responsible for bringing the metal genre back to earth, the bandmates looked and talked like they were from the street, shunning the usual rock star games of metal musicians during the mid-’80s pop-metal renaissance. Metallica also expanded the limits of thrash, using speed and volume not for their own sake, but to enhance their intricately structured compositions. The release of 1983’s Kill ‘Em All marked the beginning of the legitimization of heavy metal’s underground, bringing new complexity and depth to thrash metal. With each album, the band’s playing and writing improved; James Hetfield developed a signature rhythm playing that matched his growl, while lead guitarist Kirk Hammett became one of the most copied guitarists in metal. To complete the package, Lars Ulrich ‘s thunderous (yet complex) drumming clicked in perfectly with Cliff Burton ‘s innovative bass playing.
Many of the people who claim to really dislike this album, really are old enough to know better and they shouldn’t be liking or not liking albums simply because it’s ‘cool’ to do so.

The rest of the 1990s had Metallica releasing more blues-influenced hard rock with 1996’s Load and its companion album 1997’s Reload Whilst the band’s creative output during this period was markedly different from their earlier metal roots, they continued to sell out stadiums, top charts and push the boundaries of rock music; both Load and Reload debuted at number one on the US Billboard charts, while the 1999 live album S&M featured the San Francisco Symphony orchestra in a daring cross-genre move.

To preface my comments, I was in the upper bowl for the concert. The first half of the show had very muddy sound. My friends and I were unable to hear any of the guitar solos and when the symphony and Metallica played, neither come across clearly. We were very worried that the rest of the concert was going to be a typical indoor arena concert experience. Luckily, after the intermission, everything changed. The symphony played two pieces to kick off the second half of the show and the audio was amazingly clear and well balanced. The tribute to Cliff Burton by the SFS upright bass player followed shortly after and was utterly amazing. When Metallica started their songs, the sound was also much better balanced and we could hear all the different parts clearly. In summary, the first half was honestly pretty sub-par, but the second half was such an amazing experience that it made the concert more than worth attending for the ticket price.
