PangaKangana Ranaut’s critically acclaimed film ‘Panga’ couldn’t set the box office on fire on its opening day. Actor Varun Dhawan’s Street Dancer 3D is expected to cross the Rs 50 crore mark on Wednesday, trailing expectations. Kangana Ranaut’s Panga , meanwhile, couldn’t stir up much interest at the box office after a lacklustre opening weekend.

The sports drama stars Kangana Ranaut as Jaya Nigam, a former National level kabbadi player, who has now settled into domesticity. Married to Indian Railways employee Prashant (Punjabi singer and actor Jassie Gill), Jaya lives a seemingly idyllic life in Bhopal.

Last week’s Friday releases saw a clash between Bollywood films Panga and Street Dancer 3D. While the latter emerged as the clear box office winner on the collections basis, Panga has put up a steady front. On Monday and Tuesday, collections saw a major dip as compared to weekends, and trade analysts suggest that Panga earned Rs 1.65 crore on both days taking its total collection after five days to Rs 18.21 crore. Earlier, Panga had a decent first weekend at the box office as it pocketed Rs 14.9 crore.

The panga guys are very nice about chatting with people about best place for individual needs. The boats are fair deep, I didn’t feel like waves were coming at me. I sometimes get sick, they suggested I sit in the third seat back.

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Panga is going through difficult times at the box office. The film, which stars Kangana Ranaut and Jassie Gill, is the story of a kabaddi player who makes a comeback after becoming a mother. Kangana plays the role of the kabaddi player, Jaya Nigam.

Rooted in the subculture of societal facts Panga is an emotional roller coaster tale of a middle-class Indian woman. A forgotten kabaddi world champion who catalyzes an inner desire to give a new meaning to her existing role as a wife and mother, takes an ingenious decision to come back to the sport despite the challenge of age stereotypes and a new generation of complexities which creates an upheaval in her life as she is torn between family responsibility and her love for the sport.

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Panga opens with a pleasing, fuss-free montage that charts a day in the life of Jaya Nigam ( Kangana Ranaut ). At home, she’s a wife to a loving husband (Jassie Gill), and a devoted mother of a seven-year-old who sprouts one-liners (Yagya Bhasin); at work, she’s a jovial railway ticket-seller.

The film’s weakest link, tragically, is real-life feminist Richa Chadha as the outspoken Meenu, Jaya’s former teammate, best friend, and now personal trainer. Meenu’s role seems to have been written in with the sole purpose of making the point that a woman needs a man, like a fish needs a bicycle. There’s nothing wrong with that point, of course, but there were better ways to make it than through buffoonery.

Everytime Jaya comes close to reliving her shot at past glory, it’s on the back of these women – perhaps because they know firsthand what it must feel like to be taken for granted; to make a habit out of forgetting yourself. Tiwari sums up this thought in a moving scene where Jaya’s mother calls her to tell her that instead of only crediting her husband for her success, maybe she should credit her mother as well. It is these little touches that redeem the film’s occasional generalisation. If Panga had taken this advice as well, it could have packed an even stronger punch.

Once upon a time, though, Jaya (Kangana Ranaut) was somebody: the captain of India’s women’s kabaddi team. ( The sport, born in India and popular across Asia, is easy enough for the uninitiated to follow onscreen.) But she quit playing when her husband’s job moved the family to Bhopal from Delhi.

The other two in our party boarded their boat and met their young skipper, Jorge, and we were off and running south, where the fishing was the best at that time because that is where the bait had been concentrated. Obviously, where there is bait there are bigger fish feeding.

Panga is being hailed by the media and audience for its beautiful story and acting. The film received an almost unanimous verdict from critics for being a progressive film that portrays the mother in a new light with tremendous empathy laced with humour. The film is finding appreciation, especially among the women audience.

The female-fronted pic is very much a second act” type of story that sheds light on the ups and downs of a middle-class Indian woman who is a forgotten world champion of the popular South Asian sport of Kabaddi. She looks to give a new meaning to her existing role as a wife and mother and makes the choice to return to the sport and in turn, challenges age stereotypes and a new generation complexities. In turn, she creates an upheaval in her life as she is torn between family responsibility and love for the sport.

New Delhi: 2020 is the year of clashes in Bollywood. The year started with the big box office clash between Ajay Devgn’s ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Chhapaak’ as both the films hit the silver screens on January 10. Last week saw the release of Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Panga’ and Varun Dhawan-Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Street Dancer 3D’.

Panga tells the story of a kabaddi player who makes a comeback in the sport after becoming a mother. The film is directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. A type of modest-sized, open, outboard-powered, fishing boat common throughout much of the developing world, including Central America, the Caribbean, parts of Africa, the Middle East, and much of Asia.

Pangas provide a completely different perspective on the islands from large yachts or catamarans, with the ability to get up-close to wildlife and access sites that large vessels cannot. They also provide fantastic photographic opportunities for visitors, with each guest having a front row seat for unique wildlife spectacles and ocean vistas.

Panga clashed at the box office with Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Street dancer 3D, which has affected its business to a great level. Also, while Panga released in just 1400 screens all over the country, Street Dancer 3D released in more than 4000 screens. Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Panga also stars Jassie Gill, Neena Gupta and Richa Chadha in important roles. Panga is based on the life of a mother who aspires to make her comeback in the sport of Kabaddi.

While Remo D’Souza ‘s dance drama ‘Street Dancer 3D’ is off to a flying start, Ajay Devgn ‘s period drama is creating history with its remarkable run in the domestic circuit while Kangana’s ‘Panga’ is facing the heat. While the critics have hailed the film, it has failed to allure the audience to the theatres.

The lack of ample grey shades also deprives the script of desired depth. As it is, films centred on sports can be predictable in the way they unfold the struggle, rise and ultimate glory of the sportsperson protagonist. Panga” is no exception.

Panga, an Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari directed film, is based on the life of a forgotten kabbadi player who aspires to make a comeback into the sport once again. The movie stars Kangana Ranaut, Jassie Gill, Neena Gupta and Richa Chadha in lead roles.

Our panga fishing trips are private (no other guests on board) and are most commonly used either for trolling for big game fish such as marlin or dorado (mahi mahi), or for traditional hand-lining “Mexican-style” bottom fishing trips. They all have fighting chairs and excellent quality gear. The boat is very small and basic (thus the low price), but the captains are all experts and these trips have high guest satisfaction. If your budget doesn’t allow for one of our world-class sportfishing charters and you don’t mind to sacrifice comfort and size for price, then panga fishing might just be the option for you.

This type of vessel ranges from 22 ft. to 27 ft. in size & has a simple fighting chair as well as extra seating for 2 or 3 passengers and just one crew member (Captain). Pangas regularly have a “porta potty”, rather than an enclosed toilet & some shade. A regular trip is for 5 hours & usually close to shore, though you may travel anywhere from 1 to 10 miles parallel to the coast, generally up the Pacific side, depending on the fishing season.

The first installment debuted in 2015 and earned $125,112,232 in China and $474,252 stateside while the 2018 sequel earned a mind-boggling $541,406,438 at the Chinese box office and $1,983,984 domestically.

Fishing from a Panga is a terrific way to catch a variety of species. Depending on the season, you may catch just about anything that swims in the Sea of Cortez within a couple miles of shore. During our trip the inshore boats were catching Bonito, Cabrilla, Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish, Needlefish, Roosterfish, Sierra, Snapper and my partner even hooked a Grouper that dove into the rocks and planted itself until his line eventually broke.
