He quickly found himself touring with the likes of Canaan Smith and Billy Currington, as well as joining Florida Georgia Line on their cruise for the second year in a row in addition to headlining his own dates. Dickerson also got to have that moment every artist dreams about – making his debut at the Grand Ole Opry.

Green has an amazing voice, although I found his guitarists more entertaining than he was during his performance. Green stood center stage with his guitar in hand during his whole performance while his band stayed engaged with the crowd by tossing picks and dancing along to the music.
I’ve realized that I’m one of the pioneers of artists presenting a positive outlook on marriage. Some artists try to appear as single as possible, and I feel like I’m the opposite. I’m one of the guys saying, Hey, marriage is amazing. Check out my Instagram. See how great it is to share this life with someone.” I think that’s a thing that sets me apart. And then second is just me being myself — just being goofy and just being so energetic onstage. I think word of that is spreading among country fans. I think it’s working.
Rhett Akins led off with two songs he wrote for other artists: Jon Pardi’s Dirt on My Boots” and Blake Shelton’s Boys ‘Round Here.” He mentioned how cool it was to be opening for his son, playing at this iconic arena again. He played two original songs in Don’t Get Me Started” and That Ain’t My Truck.” Putting things in perspective, Akins said he wrote: That Ain’t My Truck” when his son was only four years old.

The couple’s wedding was one big whirlwind as well, with both Kailey and Russell improvising throughout the day. Dickerson: I started getting into songwriting around 2008. I signed a publishing deal in 2011, and I’ve been writing songs ever since then. Having written hundreds of songs now, it’s like once we wrote Yours” you could just feel it was different. All of us knew it was a special song. It was the song I had written with Parker Welling & Casey Brown specifically. It was one of those songs that felt different and we knew it would be life changing for all of us.

We’ll get to have some people on stage to propose, and that’s always so special. It’s crazy how the power of music can bring people together.
