The movie has some personal significance to Wahlberg, as he used to watch the ’80s Boston-based TV show Spenser: For Hire, which was based on the character and the book series as well.
Together with him isn’t quite as talented in the music scene, but makes up for it for countless roles and an equally charming personality–Mark Wahlberg. In the movie, he plays Spenser, of course. Spenser is an ex-cop who is finally getting out of prison. Now that’s what a paradox is, I tell you. Although, according to the trailer, he was framed by a corrupt group of then-fellow officers. When he’s back with the fresh breeze of air, he teams up with the most unlikely–but the most that makes sense–group of people. His former mentor (played by Alan Arkin), a great boxer (played by Winston Duke), and his ex-girlfriend (played by Iliza Shlesinger) are the people that form his pretty weird team.
