Spenser ConfidentialTrailer for Spenser Confidential, starring Mark Wahlberg, Alan Arkin, Colleen Camp, Winston Duke and Bokeem Woodbine. We are definitely loving the energy from Netflix this year, first was the release of Tyler Perry‘s A Fall From Grace,” and now the filming giant is here with the first trailer for its upcoming film Spenser Confidential, starring Mark Wahlberg and Winston Duke.

From director Peter Berg, Spenser Confidential is an action-comedy co-starring Bokeem Woodbine, Marc Maron, and Post Malone. Inspired by Robert B. Parker’s Wonderland, a best-selling novel by Ace Atkins. Spenser Confidential premieres on Netflix on March 6th.

The cast will also include Post Malone, comedian Marc Maron, as well as the UFC’s Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in currently unspecified roles. There is, however, a fairly good indication of who will be featured in an action sequence, who will be making smartass quips in the background – and based on the headline, who’s copping a flogging from Wahlberg himself.

The official description reads: Spenser (Mark Wahlberg) — an ex-cop better known for making trouble than solving it — just got out of prison and is leaving Boston for good. But first, he gets roped into helping his old boxing coach and mentor, Henry (Alan Arkin), with a promising amateur. That’s Hawk (Winston Duke), a brash, no-nonsense MMA fighter convinced he’ll be a tougher opponent than Spenser ever was. When two of Spenser’s former colleagues turn up murdered, he recruits Hawk and his foul-mouthed ex-girlfriend, Cissy (Iliza Shlesinger), to help him investigate and bring the culprits to justice.

Robert B. Parker’s Spenser character has been the basis for 48 novels, which all became New York Times bestsellers. Long acknowledged as the dean of American crime fiction, Parker was named Grand Master of the Edgar Awards in 2002 by the Mystery Writers of America, an honor shared with earlier masters such as Alfred Hitchcock and Ellery Queen.

Netflix just released the trailer for Spencer Confidential, starring Mark Wahlberg and Winston Duke. When two Boston Police officers are murdered, ex-cop Spenser (Mark Wahlberg) teams up with his no-nonsense roommate, Hawk (Winston Duke), to take down criminals in this action-comedy.

Henry Cimoli and Spenser have been friends for years, yet the old boxing trainer has never asked the private eye for a favor. Until now. A developer is trying to buy up Henry’s condo on Revere Beach—with a push from local thugs. Soon Spenser and his apprentice, Zebulon Sixkill, are on the trail of a mysterious woman, a megalomaniacal Las Vegas kingpin, and a shady plan to turn a chunk of land north of Boston into a sprawling casino. As alliances shift and twisted dreams surface, the Boston political machine looks to end Spenser’s investigation one way or another—and once and for all.

Another day, another Netflix original movie. The streaming giant just premiered Tyler Perry’s A Fall From Grace” over the weekend, which IndieWire senior film critic Eric Kohn called a trashy Hitchcock riff.” It’s one of about half-a-dozen Netflix original movies premiering in January, and merely a taste of what’s to come throughout 2020.

Mark Wahlberg, Post Malone, Winston Duke and a lot of punching: the first trailer for Spenser Confidential is here. Along with Wahlberg, Arkin, and Duke, the film also stars Post Malone, Marc Maron, Bokeem Woodbine, Cassie Ventura, and MMA fighter Donald Cerrone.

To Netflix subscribers, Spenser Confidential may appear to be a typical action comedy. But don’t be surprised if it becomes a huge breakout hit in 2020, if only because of Berg and Wahlberg’s cinematic chemistry and comedic talents. And with a script co-written by Helgeland – the man who adapted L.A. Confidential and Mystic River for the big screen – Spenser Confidential will undoubtedly have a tight structure to complement the laughs.

The synopsis of the film reads, Spenser – an ex-cop better known for making trouble than solving it – just got out of prison and is leaving Boston for good. But first, he gets roped into helping his old boxing coach and mentor, Henry (Alan Arkin), with a promising amateur. That’s Hawk (Winston Duke), a brash, no-nonsense MMA fighter convinced he’ll be a tougher opponent than Spenser ever was. When two of Spenser’s former colleagues turn up murdered, he recruits Hawk and his foul-mouthed ex-girlfriend, Cissy (Iliza Shlesinger), to help him investigate and bring the culprits to justice”.

The film is based on the Robert B. Parker’s book series of Spenser novels , specifically Wonderland, which was written by Ace Atkins after Parker passed away. The movie has some personal significance to Wahlberg, as he used to watch the ’80s Boston-based TV show Spenser: For Hire, which was based on the character and the book series as well.

Together with him isn’t quite as talented in the music scene, but makes up for it for countless roles and an equally charming personality–Mark Wahlberg. In the movie, he plays Spenser, of course. Spenser is an ex-cop who is finally getting out of prison. Now that’s what a paradox is, I tell you. Although, according to the trailer, he was framed by a corrupt group of then-fellow officers. When he’s back with the fresh breeze of air, he teams up with the most unlikely–but the most that makes sense–group of people. His former mentor (played by Alan Arkin), a great boxer (played by Winston Duke), and his ex-girlfriend (played by Iliza Shlesinger) are the people that form his pretty weird team.

Aside from Malone and Wahlberg, the film also features Winston Duke, Alan Arkin, Iliza Shlesinger, Bokeem Woodbine, Marc Maron, and others. At the end of the trailer, Malone is credited by his legal name, Austin Post. Post will co-star in an upcoming Netflix movie called Spenser Confidential.

A group of inmates then surround Mark’s character, saying they are going to give him “a little going away message.” Seconds later, a brawl breaks out and Post’s character ends up being thrown over a desk by detective Spenser.

Mark Wahlberg reteams with director Peter Berg to play an ex-cop, Spenser, who moves in with Hawk (Winston Duke), an aspiring MMA fighter with his own rap sheet. Between gym rounds, the duo’s taunts turn to trust, and they team up to solve a double homicide.

The story follows the hunt for the criminals behind the murder of two Boston Police officers by ex-cop Spenser (Mark Wahlberg) and his no-nonsense roommate, Hawk (Winston Duke). With his heavily tattooed face, Post plays a fitting role as prison associate of Wahlberg.

A decade on from iconic police-comedy, The Other Guys, Mark Wahlberg is returning to screens in a similar fashion. And although this isn’t exactly the sequel we had all hoped for, there are a fair few reasons to remain optimistic about upcoming Netflix release – Spenser Confidential.
