YoungBoy Never Broke Again finished atop the Billboard 200 with his latest album AI Youngboy 2 in its debut week. The follow-up to the 2017 mixtape AI YoungBoy earned 110,000 equivalent album units with just 3,000 coming from traditional album sales.

A video has surfaced on Instagram of a print copy of a book seemingly written by Youngboy himself. The hardcover book features a black-and-white photo of the rapper on the cover and his name at the bottom. Its titled Lonely Child, which is also the title of a song off his newly-released project, AI Youngboy 2 The blurb on the back gives a synopsis of his career, so one can guess that the book is autobiographical. We’ll have to wait on more news from Youngboy or his team to confirm the book’s details. In the meantime, gather the homies to form a book club.

There are flickers of the Baton Rouge titans Lil Boosie and Kevin Gates in his melodic approach, but YoungBoy Never Broke Again — his name was originally NBA YoungBoy, but he changed it to one less likely to be legally contested — has more in common with an occasional moralist like Kodak Black , another young Southern rapper recently released from jail. He also has some of the bleakness that’s been central to the rise of 21 Savage, who raps with an almost gothic severity.

NBA Youngboy, who also goes by the stage name YoungBoy Never Broke Again” was scheduled to perform at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. YoungBoy Never Broke Again has officially joined the ranks of artists who lay claim to No. 1 albums.

Youngboy Never Broke Again (also known as NBA Youngboy) is one of the rap’s most interesting figures: he doesn’t get the most media coverage or radio spins, but he’s one of the most streamed rap artists in the country. Hailing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he takes strong influence from the cities established MCs, namely Boosie Badazz and Kevin Gates. He is best known for his songs “No Smoke”, “Diamond Teeth Samurai”, and “Outside Today”, which has peaked at number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

A grand jury in Waycross, Georgia has indicted 18-year-old Baton Rouge, Louisiana rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again for aggravated assault and kidnapping after an alleged attack on his girlfriend.

Ken is NBA YoungBoy’s small brother. He appeared in his brother’s music video Wat Chu Gone Do” as a younger version of Kentrell. The rapper spends a lot of time with his younger sibling. He is ready to support him instead of their imprisoned dad.

NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, was involved in a fatal shootout in Miami this Mother’s Day that resulted in the death of a bystander. That incident reinvigorated efforts from Baton Rouge prosecutors to get Gaulden behind bars. He’s also facing legal troubles in other states, including two arrests out of Georgia, one involving domestic violence allegations.

It is unclear the exact involvement of NBA Youngboy, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, but the Miami Herald and other Florida news outlets are reporting his girlfriend was shot.

It was during his six-month confinement that he wrote lyrics for what would later be his debut mixtape.

But, he got lucky. Help came quickly and YoungBoy made it to a hospital in time to stabilize his condition. A medical halo brace was used to secure his neck in place while he healed. It was that halo brace that caused the scars around NBA YoungBoy’s head.

Rapper YoungBoy is no different from other senior rappers who had a rough time growing up, and was detained countless times for violence-related cases. In November 2016, he was arrested before taking to the stage at a concert in Austin, Texas , and jailed for eight months for attempted murder. On 23rd August 2017 he was perhaps somewhat lucky when a Baton Rouge judge sentenced him to a suspended 10- year jail term and three active years of probation, for his involvement in a South Baton Rouge street shooting.

Those sales numbers give the Baton Rouge native his first #1 on the chart. AI YoungBoy 2 collected 145 million on-demand streams, the tenth biggest first-week streaming total for an album in 2019.

Last month, police in Tallahassee arrested the rapper formerly known as NBA YoungBoy. He was a fugitive in Georgia with with outstanding assault, weapons violations, and kidnapping charges.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again has returned with his first project since being released from jail back in August The sequel to 2017’s AI YoungBoy, his newest project finds the Baton Rouge prodigy getting introspective about the difficulties he’s faced over the past year. The tracklist includes previously released single “Slime Mentality,” as well as guest features from Quando Rondo and NoCap.
