On Oct. Honolulu, HI. Monday, December 10th, 2018 – Country music singer and songrwriter Thomas Rhett to perform on Saturday, March 23rd, 2019 at the Blaisdell Center Arena located at 777 Ward Avenue, Honolulu, HI 96814. This show is all ages and begins at 7:30PM with doors opening at 6:30PM.
Rhett scored his first No. one hit in 2013 with It Goes Like This,” introducing a sound that mixed the southern swagger of county music with pop hooks, R&B grooves, soulful strut, and the anything-goes attitude of rock. During the years since, he’s become a husband and a father, too.
And lately there’s been plenty to smile about. The Nashville native and Belmont University alumnus had quite the surprising summer with the incredible grassroots reaction to his current single, Yours.” The power ballad was selected for Sirius XM’s The Highway Find program, which showcases new, and often times unsigned, artists to country music fans across the country. And with his song competing with artists such as Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan on the satellite radio station’s weekly Hot 45 countdown, and successfully reaching #15, listeners have spent the entire summer discovering Dickerson.
It’s just weird,” Rhett reflected ( via his record label ). “I think looking back at my 19-year-old self, that never in a million years thought that I wanted to be an artist. I wanted to stay in Nashville and just write songs, to where we’re at now is all a God thing to me. Every decision that we made and every tour I said yes to, every tour I said no to, every song I did cut, every song I didn’t cut, I think it was all part of some crazy plan.
In 2007, the Wide Open Country Video Award (named for the CMT Pure Country video block of the same name) was introduced to recognize music not normally played on country radio. Jack Ingram ‘s ” Love You ” was the first recipient. 6 It was discontinued after 2009.
Thomas Rhett Akins (yes, Thomas Rhett is his first name) may be new to country, but he has been around the industry for quite a while. His father Rhett Akins had several hits before his son broke onto the scene including That Ain’t My Truck” and Kiss My Country Ass”.
It almost feels like you’re watching your best friend perform for you. Rhett spends a lot of time interacting with the crowd, sharing personal stories about his music and making you feel like you’ve known him most of your life. He gives shout-outs to his fans in the sections farther away from the stage so everyone feels included. In this way, Rhett’s concerts have more intimate feel than other big-arena shows.

They also sound like hit songs. Crash and Burn,” the album’s first single, climbed into the Top 10 long before the album’s release, and any number of the remaining tracks — from South Side, a groove-heavy song co-written with Chris Stapleton, to Die a Happy Man,” a heartfelt tribute to Thomas Rhett’s wife — could follow its climb up charts. Meanwhile, songs like Single Girl” mix his country-boy croon with layers of poppy synthesizers, and Tangled” models itself after Michael Jackson’s dance floor jams.
There was so much energy with this show. From each and every performer. I loved every minute of it. Thonas Rhett was worth waiting for. Dustin Lynch an ultimate performer. Wow Russell Dickerson was amazing. Rhett Atkins country class. Phenomenal show.

Decades later, he’s tipping his hat to those days with Tangled Up, an album that mixes the sound of his influences with equal doses of groove, melody and twang.

I’m not personally a huge fan of any of these artists, but my wife is! I know a few songs, so I want blind, but I didn’t know enough to give a full 5 stars. It was a great time and my wife loved every minute of it. It was a memorable experience for the both of us and I’m looking forward to many more concerts in the future.
It’s a phenomenon familiar to the country star who had the last #1 album before Rhett’s. That’d be the young black country phenom Kane Brown. Like Center Point Road, Brown’s chart-topping Experiment exists along the blurry borderline between boilerplate Nashville tropes and more pop-minded easy listening fare. Good As You” (#36 on the Hot 100) shares some DNA with Ed Sheeran, while Lose It” (#28) more explicitly embraces a country sound with abundant banjo and fiddle in the mix. His biggest exposure outside the country bubble, though, has come through collaborations with two of the most genre-averse hit-makers of this moment.

Since his father hung around with the likes of Tim McGraw and Brooks & Dunn while he was growing up, Thomas Rhett would have his future relatively mapped out for him singing country music, as well. However, he decided to go to college for communications. The music bug continued to nag at him, though, and he dropped out when he was 20 to pursue a career in singing and songwriting.
