Chris Janson announced he will release this third studio album, Real Friends, on Oct. 18. His current single, “Good Vibes,” sits at Number Two and climbing on the Mediabase Country Singles chart.

Real Friends the album — due Oct. 18 — features a collaboration with Blake Shelton on the title track and his Top 20 single “Good Vibes.” Janson helped write many of the songs and spoke with enthusiasm about the positive nature of his lyrics during an album preview event earlier this year.

Janson’s new album will be released via Warner Music Nashville. The singer’s previous two major-label full-length offerings were also released on the same record label.

The first single off of Real Friends, ” Good Vibes ,” came out in February. The singer co-wrote the track with Ashley Gorley and Zach Crowell, and he says that it’s a fitting introduction to what promises to be an especially uplifting album. A message of optimism and positivity, the song also speaks to Janson’s personal mantra.

This year’s 10th Annual CMT Artists of the Year special highlights the entire year of country music, and honors this year’s artists: Carrie Underwood, Dan + Shay, Kane Brown, Luke Combs and Thomas Rhett.

Born in Missouri, Janson was working as a songwriter as early as 18 years old, collaborating with the likes of Guns N’ Roses’ Bill Anderson and Holly Williams, granddaughter of Hank Williams, Sr. After relocating to Nashville, he landed a year-long residency at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounger, where he caught the attention of Neil Young one night with a cover of Young classic “Cortez the Killer.” Releasing his self-titled debut album in 2013, Janson landed two singles on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, “Better I Don’t” and “Cut Me Some Slack,” but it was his unpredictable live performances that really turned heads. In 2013, he signed to Bigger Picture Music Group and released ” Better I Don’t” 9 Janson wrote the song with his wife, Kelly, and Pat Bunch , 10 and Keith Stegall produced it. 2 “Better I Don’t” peaked at number 40 on Country Airplay in mid 2013. A second single, ” Cut Me Some Slack ,” peaked at number 60 before Bigger Picture closed in 2014. That same year, Columbia Records released Take It to the Bank , which included “Til a Woman Comes Along” and other songs that he had recorded while on BNA.

Janson hugged Brooks, then through tears, thanked everyone, before telling the packed house he had two dreams when it came to music. One was getting his songs on the radio, the other was getting to perform on the Grand Ole Opry. As he tried to explain what it meant to actually become a member, he choked up, unable to finish.

The young artist is eager and ready to take those songs to fans across the country, and has spent the past year playing shows and building fans around his home state of Kentucky and across the Southeast. Watching him perform it’s easy to see shades of his idols, Luke Bryan,” in his rocking live show, and his dad” in the way he connects and emotes through a tender ballad. Fittingly, Janson decided to honor that bond by titling the new project Real Friends. After all, friendship played a big part in the making of these new songs, too: “I made Real Friends with actual real friends. I produced the album with real friends, wrote all the songs with real friends, took all the photos for the project with my best friend and wife, Kelly,” he explains in a press release.

In an interview with Taste of Country Nights , Janson revealed that he had Offset in mind when writing the song. “I said I wanna write a song somewhere between Hank Jr. ’83 rowdiness and the Migos,” he said.
