Zach Williams 2019 By JOY Radio Podcast

Zach WilliamsChristian artist Zach Williams dropped his sophomore album, Rescue Story, on Oct. While driving through Spain with his band, he heard the song ‘Redeemed’ by Big Daddy Weave come on the radio and he felt God speak to him. After that, Zach turned his whole life around and started living for the Lord.

Christian singer Zach Williams may be famous for his popular songs like ‘Chainbreaker’ and ‘Old Church Choir’ but before making music for God, Zach struggled with addiction.

Never in his wildest dreams did Zach think he would be in this place of writing and recording music in the Christian music industry, especially from years of hard living on the road while in a rock & roll band. He thought his life was fulfilling and he was doing what he had always wanted to do, but that left him empty, lonely, and further away from God and his family than ever before. For years he sought meaning and fulfillment in the unhealthy, and sometimes dangerous, lifestyle he was living.

As for Williams, he continues to find the light in his life again. When he’s not involved in church, family or prison ministry, he’s in the kitchen cooking up a meal. His TV, he said, is constantly tuned to the Food Network.

It was just a mere three years ago when Williams rapidly made a name for himself with his record-breaking debut single, Chain Breaker,” following it up with two more award-winning songs, Old Church Choir” and Fear Is a Liar.” Two versions of his debut album have released, Chain Breaker and the Chain Breaker Deluxe Edition, as well as an EP, Survivor: Live From Harding Prison. Williams has earned a coveted GRAMMY Award (2018) and two additional nominations (2017, 2019), and has won four GMA Dove Awards, two K-LOVE Fan Awards, three gold singles, and numerous other nominations and recognition, all which quickly made him a household name and a staple at radio.

It was through his dad that classic and Southern rock permeated his life and became such a big part of his musical identity. With 30 hours left to complete his graphic art degree, Williams gave up college life and, carrying his guitar around everywhere he went, chased that rock star dream. He would marry, then divorce and eventually hit the road with his Southern rock band, Zach Williams and the Reformation.

Husband, father, singer, songwriter, worship leader, campus director at his home church in Arkansas, and now, most recently added to ZACH WILLIAMS’ list of titles is recording artist. Signing with Provident Label Group’s Essential Records, he will release his powerful debut single, Chain Breaker,” this summer to radio stations across the U.S.

The guys talk about how the band was birthed out of community and that it was at family gatherings in the early days of their friendship that they would grab their guitars and start writing songs. The songs came quickly and easily” says Thomas and they were simply an overflow of what the Lord was doing in our lives individually and as a community.” In 2016, they decided to record an album of the songs that they had been writing under the name HOLY MNTN and before long they were getting invites from all over the country for them to perform their music.

In just a few short years, Essential Music Publishing has become a vital creative community that empowers songwriters whose songs impact the world in various media and in multiple genres. Never in his wildest dreams did Zach Williams think that he would be in this place of writing and recording music in the Christian music industry, especially from years of hard living on the road while in a rock & roll band. He thought his life was fulfilling and he was doing what he had always wanted to do, but that left him empty, lonely, and further away from God and his family than ever before. For years he sought meaning and fulfillment in the unhealthy, and sometimes dangerous, lifestyle he was living. He eventually found refuge in a fellow band mate, thanks to their countless late nights on the road talking about God, faith and what their lives could actually be like beyond the band.

Williams toured with a Southern rock band before making the the switch to Christian music. This fall come experience songs from Zach Williams’ brand new album, Rescue Story LIVE for the first time with special guest Josh Baldwin.

He was the lead singer in Zach Williams & The Reformation , 2 an American rock band formed in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 2007 by the group of Zach Williams (acoustic guitar, harmonica and vocals), Red Dorton (bass guitar and vocals), Robby Rigsbee (slide guitar and rhythm guitar), Josh Copeland (lead guitar, rhythm guitar and vocals) and Evan Wilons (drums). The band took their name from the desire to reform or revitalize the southern rock sound. The band released two independent albums, Electric Revival in 2009 and A Southern Offering in 2011. In 2012, Williams disbanded the Reformation due to his newfound Christian beliefs.

Zach Williams never intended to become a musician — or to perform in prison. Grammy winner Zach Williams recorded his latest work, a six-song EP, in Nashville’s Harding Prison.

Each song featured on the six-song project, Survivor,” Old Church Choir,” To The Table,” No Longer Slaves,” Fear Is A Liar” and Chain Breaker,” were filmed with interviews from some of the inmates sharing their personal testimonies. Video footage will release weekly on Williams’ YouTube channel, and a devotional will be available in the coming weeks through YouVersion, written by a pastor with Men of Valor.

Chain Breaker has become one of my new favorite songs. See below for a list of Zach Williams’s GRAMMY Awards history. Zach Williams wears many hats from husband and father to church staff and worship leader.

Starnes is a frequent speaker at churches, Christian conferences and Christian universities. He has delivered messages at the Ronald Reagan Ranch, the Billy Graham Training Center and the Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit.

Fast forward to his late 20s and Williams was a leader of the band Zach Williams & The Reformation. On the wave of the band’s rising popularity and in the newlywed stage of his second marriage, Williams got the news from a doctor: he had early stages of esophagus cancer. Starting in high school, Williams experimented with drugs and alcohol, starting out as nothing more than teenage rebellion and spiraling into abusive habits and addiction. Instead of seeking help, Williams dove deeper into his addiction.

Now, the father of 2, Zach is bringing others to God through his music and it’s absolutely inspiring to hear this story straight from him. What a testimony.

I spent a year and a half on this record, in a season of just kind of reflecting on what God has done in my life. It’s really the first time since the success of the Chain Breaker” album that I’ve kind of had a chance to kind of get a breath and look around and see what’s happened. And you know, as I started to look around and see what happened in three years, I started looking to 20 years ago when I first started playing music and the places I was and the people I was running with, how God protected me and kept me out of certain things that honestly, at the moment, I didn’t even realize it. Looking back, I can see that He was preparing this way and putting all this together. And I just feel really honored to be here and just have the opportunities that I have now.

Zach Williams is a Grammy-award winning American Christian rock artist. From 2007-2012 he was a member of Zach Williams & The Reformation (acoustic guitar, harmonica, and vocals). He was also the lead singer of the Christian groups’ Brothers of Grace, and Zach Williams and the Brothers of Grace.

It was in 2012 on a tour bus that Williams gave up that hard living. He heard Big Daddy Weave’s song I Am Redeemed,” quit the band he was in and walked away.

Williams grew up in a Christian home where both his mother and father were heavily involved in church. But as a teenager he drifted away from the values his parents had instilled in him.

His personal testimony of receiving freedom in the Lord is so beautifully reflected in his debut single Chain Breaker”. The song came from a place of wanting to reach people who had been struggling and it undoubtedly has. Over the course of its release in the summer of 2016, an influx of stories have been shared on his various social media pages by people who have experienced the life changing power of broken chains. He has since released a special project Survivor: Live From Harding Prison in partnership with Men of Valor that was recorded live at a prison in Nashville, TN.Zach Williams
